Hof is loaded this yr.Despite there best player Adeleke getting kicked off the team.What a waste of talent.Lyr they had the talent to win the CAA.But injuries and bad luck gave them a 10-8 conf record.Stokes emerged as there best player.Named 2nd pre-season all conf.Washington,Aguido,Souffrant and Rivera are all solid gds.Washington starts but Rivera was the frosh sensensation lyr but tore up his knee.Aguido is the stud.He was red shirted.Pecora nabbed him over many other schools.Was 1st team All NY state.Can stick a 3 and can shoot off the dribble.Wow.and he's coming off the bench.Suff is a senior and started a few yrs ago.he's there 5 th gd when they bring in 6'5 Radziejewski.He plays 2 gd or the 3 and has range.
Front line could be a problem right now.Gibson one of the wide bodies at 6'7 got hurt lyr and didn't play in the 2nd half.He's a 14 pt-6 bd man.Tough inside but likes to stray out side.W/O Adelke he needs to be in the paint.But with all the injuries 6'8 Kieza got time to play and he's tough. He avg 15 pts and 7 bds the last 7 or 8 games.He looks ugly but plays hard.Sisti the 6'8 kid from LI red shirted and he will become a good inside player.Has nice low post moves.
W/O Adeleke one of the top rebounders in the nation Hoftra recruits Uter a NYC kid that went the juco way for 2 yrs.Uter just happened to lead the nation in rebounding.He will be a force in the paint
FIU went 5-22 lyr.But Rouco an asst at UTEP recruited big time into the juco ranks.Almonte was a 2nd team all amer.N'Diaye is another 6'6 tranfer.Matias a good got hurt lyr and is back.Burnett is a 6'8 inside player who will be there top rebounder.FIU has no pt gd.A frosh played there in the 1st few srimmages and games.That will be a problem.
FIU has ome talent but w/o a good pt gd everyone will have to shift around.Plus defense will be a problem.When you bring in all new players it takes awhile to adjust.Don't think they have the horses to stay with Hofstra.
Rivera and Gibson didn't play in the exhibitions games.Not sure if they are playing today or only used a little.But lyr injuries really helped this team.Kieza and Stokes stepped up big time.Hof has 5 or 6 players from Florida on there team so its homecoming for some.
One of the problems I see with Hof is the same with Iona.Not enough balls for everyone esp the gds.Rivera,Aguido and Stokes could start for the Johnnies.Pecora is a great recruiter but not a good bench coach.But does he have talent.
