After watching Rudy Ruettiger's alma mater win the 5A state championship today, you know it's an omen that ND will show up tonight. (Actually, it's not that strong of a sign, since Joliet Catholic is much more consistent than the Irish have been of late). Joliet Catholic takes 260 lb. sons of steel workers and lines up in an I and smashes there way to state championship after state championship. It's what they do. And knocking off #1 is what the Irish do. Gerry Faust even did it at Pitt in '83.

The spread for this game has been set at 20 all season and now has stepped up to 24 most likely for the matchup of Leinhart against the ND secondary, but it doens't really concern me. Leinhart can have his 350 yards. What I'm hoping for is that Notre Dame looks to stuff the run and tries to get to Leinhart and not worry about what's behind them because if they sit back tonight, they'll just get a slow death.

Weather forecast calls for 50% chance of showers and winds of 20MPH. Not terrible, but it should be a concern for the Trojans because they have to pass to win. I want to see if the Trojans can play in a muck-it-up game, because outside of VaTech, they haven't seen any physical teams.

I would love to grab the ML on this game, but none of my books have it, so I'll just be playing

Go Irish!! Beat South Central!!!

". . . whate'er the odds be great or small. . ."

ND +24 2 units

Bowl eligibility and a run game makes me like Northwestern

Northwestern -5 1 unit

You could probably throw a rock at the ND campus. They got to be crazy in your neck of the woods. My bud is from Merrianet Pk and they know the kicker/his family. (Seta?)

IO,

Not even close to ND. Did the stereotypical suburban kid thing - moved to the Northside in my early twenties, moved to the South Loop in my later twenties and then did the get married, move back to the suburbs thing. Closer to Rockford than South Bend.

Excited for this game because South Central's #1, but I consider MSU, Purdue and especially Michigan to be bigger rivals than SC. Hoping for a classic tonight!
