PLEASE help!!! I know just enough about computers to turn on the power switch. Problem I've been having for the last month is these darn microsoft rectangles popping up on the screen everytime I try to go to a link or press the "more" option list on our little "smiles box" :))) I really wanted to "toast" boiler today on his birthday but when I push "more" choices, up pops the rectangle -
[ Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library] Runtime Error!

If I click "OK" it takes out the "more" choices that poped up, and if I "X" it out it does the same. I can no longer get to these additional choices :cursin:

Does the same thing when I try to go to a link!! It's frustrating not to be able to help Doc with my "massage girl" input or check out any of his other luscious links.

Anyone??? PLEASE!!!

Thanks for your response bsucards

First let me tell you I am still taking baby steps in my infancy stage with a computer. You can refer to me as BahamaMama's little brother :) (Please take no offense BM)

I have a dell desktop computer with windows xp. After opening the start menu I cannot find anything that says Internet Explorer version. (I'd be giving you that little shrugging guy right now if I could use it :) ) There's run, help & support, search, settings, and programs??

Thanks for the suggestions cisco

I tried the Ad-Aware last month when it was mentioned for another's problem. Didn't change anything - still have the rectangle pop in (tried it for @25days)

When I get to the System Restore and perform all the steps, it goes through the whole process and when it comes back on screen after re-booting (?) it has a message that says "Restoration Incomplete - cannot be restored to Sept 30 - no changes have been made (insert another shoulder shrug here)

I am hesitant about trying the Spybot since the Ad-Aware did nothing.

I am not aware of kazaa. Is that a virus protection. I am using Norton for this

Any other suggestions?? Thanks for your help :)

Try running Spysweeper. It's free for 30 days.

http://www.webroot.com/products/windowwasher/?rc=648&ac=adw01gen

kazaa is free music download and full of spyware.

To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done

Turn off Norton

on your desktop screen you should see internet explorer or what your viewing this forum in

at the top is a menu that says help, and then a submenu that says about internet explorer

this sounds more like an internet explorer issue rather than spyware to me
