Thanks for the articles, dogs. One of the most interesting struggles that will take place in the next decade. The western cultures that founded the ideas of democracy and are so proud of their tolerance won't be able to preserve their ideologies and their tolerance at the same time.

tolerance is very hard to sustain when those that you wish to extend open borders and freedom to wish to bring their own intolerance into your society......are unwilling to assimilate...

bobby...tolerance?....are the europeans intolerant for not sanctioning this crap in their open and free society....the netherlands?...probably the most open and tolerant society in the world..

an article i`ll re-post....

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLAND--""Dutch authorities have confirmed that 13 young Muslims arrested on terrorism charges in the Netherlands after the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh are members of a radical Islamic group with international links and a Syrian-born spiritual leader.

Dutch intelligence calls the group the "Hofstad Netwerk," and a Justice Ministry official says 43-year-old Syrian Redouan al-Issar, the alleged spiritual leader, has disappeared without a trace.

Van Gogh was killed on an Amsterdam street Nov. 2, apparently for criticizing Islam. His slaying set off a wave of reprisals -- attacks on more than 20 Islamic sites in the Netherlands, including a mosque gutted by fire Saturday.

The three prayer rooms, which would have been full minutes later for a service marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, were "completely destroyed and are now worthless," said Mohamed elAmriti, chairman of the Muslim foundation.

The suspect in van Gogh's killing, 26-year-old Mohammed Bouyeri, of Amsterdam, was arrested in a shootout with police minutes after the filmmaker died of gunshot wounds and a slit throat. Bouyeri had a will in his pocket saying he was prepared to die for Islamic jihad, or holy war.

(and let me add,the aricle didn`t go into detail on van gogh`s death....he was shot off his bike....and then while pleading for his life, one of these "people"walked over and slit his throat in front of witnesses)...

In the days that followed, the government has come under pressure to release details about Islamic radicals and terrorists recruiting in the Netherlands.

In correspondence sent to parliament Thursday, Interior Minister Johan Remkes, who oversees the secret service, gave the clearest picture yet of the Dutch cell allegedly behind van Gogh's murder.

Remkes said the Hofstad Network, composed mostly of young Dutch Muslims of North African ancestry, has links to networks in Spain and Belgium, several members of the group have traveled to Pakistan for training, and its members were under the influence of al-Issar for many years.

"The number of persons and networks in the Netherlands that thinks and acts in terms of actual violence is, in our opinion, limited," he wrote. "But the feeding ground from which they spring, is broader ... it's better to think in terms of thousands than hundreds," he said.

Al-Issar went by several names, including Abu Kaled, the Justice Ministry official said. The name is used by al-Qaida fugitive Muhammad Bahaiah, a courier between Osama bin Laden and European cells.

Al-Issar had sought asylum in Germany beginning in 1995, but has not been seen there since May 2004, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday""'....

this isn`t an isolated incident....and the dutch are rightfully very angry and don`t want these people in their country....

if that`s intolerance, then so be it...

What I fail to understand is one of their chief complaints against the west and others is our trying to influence the Arab world yet it is they that are moving in droves to europe and the west NOT visa versa????
Sounds like classic case of don't eat where you shit to me.;)

This is going to a problem in our world for the rest of our lives. Hate just breeds hate. Racism in our country will always be present as young people are taught to hate by their parents or culture they are present in. This muslim hate is being taught and the only way to counter it is by the muslim community teaching pacifism, or at least not to kill others as a means to an end. Hearing it from anyone else is just listening to the evil devil as far as they are concerned.

Palestinian 'Sesame Street' Urges AK-47 Massacre

In a recent episode of the Palestinian version of "Sesame Street," a furry chick character threatens to get an AK-47 and massacre people who have torn down his olive trees, a common complaint by Palestinians against Israeli Defense Forces in the region.

In a scene rebroadcast Saturday by the Fox News Channel, a little girl asks the talking chick, "What would you do if someone cut down your olive tree?"

"I'll fight them and make a big riot," the chick replies. "I'll call the whole world. I'll bring AK-47 assault rifles and commit a massacre in front of my house."

Itamar Marcus, spokesman for the Israeli group Palestinian Media Watch, says the "Sesame Street"-style broadcast was "striking because of the age group that was targeted with this message of a little Muslim girl who is going to run out with an assault rifle and create a massacre."

"This is a powerful message for children of that age," he added.

Radwan Abu Ayyash, who runs Palestinian TV, initially defended the broadcast, telling Fox, "The cause of the segment is the occupation."

After Fox drew his attention to the AK-47 comment, however, Ayyash canceled the program.

i would think you can be tolerant and still not sanction murder and mayhem...lol.....

as tolerant as the netherlands may be,they still must have laws, order and some semblance of civiliization....

even the most tolerant civilization will not tolerate the murder of someone for voicing an opinion....

that`s at the heart of the difference between this radical version of islam and civilization....

the netherlands have nothing to do with 9/11...or the war in iraq....or american imperialism...or bush...or israel...

but that doesn`t matter...in their world, you die for voicing an opinion they don`t agree with...

don`t think the dutch are to crazy about that concept...

more than a great read.....a portent of the impending cataclysm on the horizon for our children...and our children`s children....if something doesn`t happen sooner than we anticipate....

again, churchill was called a fool and a maniac by most of leftist europe.....and he proved to be a prophet and a visionary...

"Dozens of apologists pretend that there is no connection between the religion of Islam and those who practice terror in its name, or suggest that Western leaders are no better or are indeed worse than Islamist murderers. Thus Karen Armstrong, the well-known historian of religion: “It’s very difficult sometimes to distinguish between Mr. Bush and Mr. bin Laden.”....

some on this board should read this....it sounds very familiar......europe once again misdirects it`s animosity..it must be a genetic flaw....keeps it`s head firmly buried in the sand.....until it`s to late....

thanks chan...it`s what i`ve been trying to say on this board for quite awhile....obviously,not as comprehensively or eloquently said as this distinguished writer....

beautifully written...

thanks,bud...

sounds like Armageddon....to sscary for me to contemplate...

i don`t think that the rest of the world gives a whit whether or not we get hit with a nuclear or biological attack...

this seems draconian,to put it mildly...it would never fly..

i don`t think there`s any way for us to circumvent this happening in the u.s.....

hopefully, not in our lifetime....but,i believe it will happpen within the next 10 or 15 years....probably within 10...

might be brought in from up north...or in a container ship...

Garden: I think there would be several that would probably relish the fact.

Is scarey isn't it--kinda like playing by their rules.

To be honest I thought we would be hit with some form of terrorist attack again since 911. While it is too far fetched to think the best security measures in the world could stop them--I have to think in the back of my mind GW put the fear in them and they don't like idea of swapping 2 buildings for 2 countries.

This day and time is no place for a weak leader as Spain is finding out.An ounce of prevention is worth pound of cure and consequences is only deterent terrorist understand.

Well - now that there's no chance of getting border controls or immigrant license controls in the Security Reform Bill, we have done nothing to improve our safety. Congrats to our government for giving in to big business yet again, at the cost of our own security.
