While I doubt this is a done deal, it only makes since for Meyer to go to UF. Who do you want running his offense ? Chris Leak or Brady Quinn? I don?t think that he is the long-term solution for ND, but it doesn?t look good when this is (possibly) the second straight hiring process where the Irish can?t land there #1 choice. Urban Meyer = Gary Crowton ? Offensive Gimmick Coach.

I find it difficult that Meyer would forfeit his Utah salary to go to Florida, he has a clause in his contract that says he will not be penalized for leaving Utah only if he is leaving for a head coaching job at Michigan, Ohio St or Notre Dame...Florida doesnt make sense, but I guess he doesnt care about the $$ like other coaches

The University of Florida has offered its coaching job to Urban Meyer and expects him to accept it today, according to reports on Florida newspaper Web sites.

Meyer, who has coached Utah to a 12-0 season and a BCS bowl bid, could make his decision today, according to the Gainesville Sun.

"It could be any minute," UF president Dr. Bernie Machen told The Palm Beach Post. "I'm waiting for an e-mail."

Athletic director Jeremy Foley, however, told the Florida Times-Union that a deal was not complete.

"The search is in progress,'' Foley told the paper. "The search is progressing.''

When asked about the report, Utah athletic director Chris Hill, defered.

"My position is to let the other parties in these things -- the schools and the coach -- speak for themselves," Hill said. "Any kind of confirmation would have to come from other sources."

When pressed, Hill offered no further comment.

Meyer met with his players Thursday and told them what schools are pursuing him, but he would not be specific when asked about the meeting.

"There's too many things involved right now to have any comments," Meyer said after a practice at Utah's new indoor practice field.

Florida officials were in Utah on Thursday, as were Notre Dame officials
