toledo rockets (-3.5)

very confident about this one. coming back to northwest ohio for some home cooking after a miserable 0-3 road start to the year should be just what toledo needs. theyve had a week off to prepare for this game, and its a revenger from last year's buzzer-beating loss to nevada in the bracket buster. rockets played well enough to win that one too, and they did it without triplett in the 2nd half (after he broke his nose early on). toledo brings back the exact same team and starting five that was 11-1 at home last year. their 0-3 start gives this game some great value. nevada has a nice team, but cant trust them 2000 miles from home against a rested toledo team that is looking to play up to their preseason billing now that theyre back home.

east tennessee state (pk) over central michigan

bucs have been brutal this year and havent been playing anywhere near as well as last year, but theyve played a pretty tough schedule right out of the gate. road trips to marshall and alabama and home games against a good COC team as well as fresno at least allow me to think that some of their early struggles are schedule-related. central michigan sucks and has played nobody this year. smith cant do it alone for etsu over the whole season, but for one night, i dont see cmu having anyone to stop him.

Gman - Toledo game really stuck out for me too. Line already up to 5.5 though at Pinnacle :scared

Still think there's value in it at that price? I gotta think that either Toledo puts it together and wins by DD or loses outright; little in between.

Just saw your post now -- and missed all the line value. I don't remember such rampant line movement this early in the season in years past.

Best of luck tonight I like that Toledo play, especially with the line you got (glad you had the forsight to get it early)

GMan, I looked at both of these games and could not get enough value. The line looks very tight so I stayed away. Appreciate your opinions and follow you but could not pull trigger on these. Hope both of them win for you.

re: line movement on this toledo game. by no means am i trying to make light of the difference between the 3.5 i got and the 5.5 or 6 that its now climbed to.....but i dont think it matters. toledo is a different team at home and if these guys decide that now is a good time to play up to their preseason billing, then they are fully capable of winning by 10-12 points. this team can score points in a hurry (hell, they AVERAGED 83+ pts a game at home last year with this group) so its really just a matter of them finally getting untracked.

irish: wish i could give you an opinion on fairfield and st.joes but i cant. i dont know what to make of the hawks quite yet, and i told myself i would steer clear of their games until conference play (mainly because of how theyre in a state of transition right now). sorry bud.

G-Man, what is your opininon of why the Rockets have gotten off to such a horrible start. They have been disappointing.

Thanks,
Bill

bill:

theyve dug themselves early holes and then had to play from behind in 3 straight games. you can get away with that at home sometimes, but not on the road.

trailed 9-0 and 16-4 out of the gate vs. vandy
trailed 5-0 and 16-6 out of the gate vs. wright
trailed 6-0 and 21-6 out of the gate vs. east carolina

they ended up settling in and coming back to make games of all 3, just never got over the hump.

they were a scoring machine at home last year, so id be surprised if they didnt jump on nevada early tonight and take the game to them.

Toledo is a 2nd half team and although I am on Reno at +6 if they are not up double digits at home I will not feel comfortable about getting a cover.
