ray,

was looking at this total myself when i seen u on it i wanted to ask ur opinion. seems as if when these two teams play they shoot lights out..

all games since 96 the over has covered 19-6
all games at dallas since 96 12-2 going over.
seems like last 3 yrs also the total has went 4-0 at dalllas. how strong of a play u consider this ? was wanting to cut losses in half on this game .. but seems like a trap ? just curious on ur thoughts as well... gl

Dallas
For what it is worth, I think the line sees a bit of a let down by the Sonics after last night in SA. I do not see that happening as Dallas has less than stellar defense and has a tough time winning unless they score close to 100. Seattle after last night would rather run and gun than have to play a denfensive game that requires a lot more energy. I got in late and took the over at 200. Think +6 is a gift for Sonics.

NBA: Find value in the Texas Triangle
Bryan Leonard

The Bermuda Triangle is etched in American folklore as a mysterious place where planes and ships have encountered all kinds of difficulties. It?s an enigma dripping with fear, as some unfortunate people have entered the Triangle and have never been heard from again.

In the NBA, there?s a similar place not as deadly, but certainly one that elicits fear among professional athletes: The Texas Triangle.

Road play in basketball is a tough enough grind. Teams playing four straight home games, for example, are generally in better shape to play up to their capabilities than a team playing four straight road games.

Road play can be grueling, with athletes having to put up with all kinds of physical and emotional demands not required when at home. Plan travel, a lack of sleep, and changing time zones are three of many challenges players have to put up with on the road.

Currently in the NBA, Texas happens to have three teams that have a lot of talent and come at you in different ways. Dallas has a strong offense and a deep bench and can run the opposition ragged, while Houston and San Antonio have talented centers and suffocating defenses that force opponents to earn every basket.

A good handicapper pays careful attention to teams taking a road trip through the Texas Triangle.

Playing at San Antonio is tough enough, where the Spurs have started 8-0 straight up, and 6-2 against the spread allowing just 78 points per game. San Antonio is 7-1 under the total at home. But to rub elbows with the Spurs on their home court, and then travel to Dallas and Houston ? sometimes with no rest ? is particularly grueling for teams.

That?s why it?s important for handicappers to examine not just each particular game, but a series of games.

Questions you need to ask:

Is this the second of a back to back road spot?

Does Team A have the bench to play a physically demanding game against the Rockets, then get up and down the court the next night against Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs?

Are they more interested in getting out of Texas to play lighter competition? Some teams have it in their heads to try and take one of three games in Texas. So if they pull an upset at Dallas, maybe they will not as motivated to playing hard against the Rockets two nights later.

Recently, the Jazz had a road trip that took them to San Antonio, where they were blown out 109-76. That was the start of an 0-4 straight up and against the spread run with losses at Seattle and at Dallas.

Notice that after battling the Sonics in overtime, the next game Utah had nothing left in a 109-86 loss at Dallas.

These are the kinds of situations over several games that can give handicappers an edge. After all, athletes are human. Psychologically, they know who they?re playing each night and who?s coming up on the schedule.

Sometimes a team is beaten even before it gets on the court, which can be an enormous gift when trying to identify winners against the Vegas number. And the Texas Triangle is currently the most difficult road situation in the NBA.

The San Antonio Spurs face a tough assignment tonight in Houston. It may not be the Rockets that pose the biggest challenge but rather the scheduling and travel that preceded the game. The Spurs were home Friday nigh to Detroit and won 80-77. Then they played in Milkwaukee Saturday night and won again, 104-83. After a night off Sunday they played in Chicago Monday, winning there 91-75. The Spurs hosted Seattle last night now face the Rockets in Houston less than 24 hours later. It's not only their fifth game in the last seven nights but it's their seventh game in the last 10 nights. Houston last played on Tuesday when it beat the Hornets 89-81 as a 10-point home favorite. The Rockets are playing for just the third time in eight days

First time thru I cap the Dal game at 195 with the line between 2-5. It appears that in bb situations Sea plays a slower game with more d. I'm with you about the line movement. Between 6 and gametime might give us clue. I think the early line movement is because the public thinks Sea will be tired. They have played three bbs this year winning all three by an ave of 18 points. This is a little mis-leading because they beat Sac by 31 but 9 is the lowest they have won by. Another thing I track has the road team 4-1 on the year in this situation. Good luck today.

Seattle is coming off a showdown Wednesday at San Antonio. Dallas had the night off after handing Minnesota its first loss in six games, 97-87. The Mavericks have won eight of their last 11 against the Sonics, and five straight at American Airlines Center. They have cashed four of the last five series tests at home, prevailing last season by 11 and 10 points, respectively. Nine of the last 12 series skirmishes have skipped 'over', including five of six at Dallas. The Mavericks have trickled 'under' at a 7-2-1 clip.

Portland has won five straight versus Eastern Conference competition after dropping its first three. The Blazers have been idle since losing Sunday at home to Phoenix, 121-99, their second straight setback. Boston fell short for the sixth time in its last seven games on the road Monday at Golden State. The Celtics nipped the Blazers at the Fleet Center, 90-88, on Nov. 10, failing to get the money for the fifth time in six meetings. Boston has won two of three at the Rose Garden, tumbling in last season's visit, 105-84. Portland has zipped 'over' in six of its last seven at home. The Celtics have followed suit in eight of their last nine overall and in seven straight on the road.

Raymond you are on FIRE!

Raymond you are on FIRE!

Great job! Your picks are so good that I get intimidated posting mine.

Keep up the great work

Also, I noticed you used the word "TRAP" in the Seatlle game. Sometime I catch all Hell when I use the word TRAP. They say there is no such thing as a "trap game". I say to them look at Vegas do you think they built those Casinos without a few traps along the way?
