Vazquez, 2 minor leaguers to LA. Shawn Green, Brad Penny, and Yhency Brazoban to Arizona, Big Unit to the Yanks. :scared

I really thought the Yanks were gonna deal Posada & ?'s for Big unit, and try to ink Varitek. This is a very strong pitching rotation, especially considering the addition of Carl Pavano. Johnson, Pavano, Mussina...Brown still going to be moved?

came across this note:

ESPN's Jayson Stark believes the three-team Randy Johnson may not get done because it was contingent on the Dodgers being able to re-sign Adrian Beltre.
If he's right, then the breaking news was old news, because the deal would have had to have been agreed to prior to today. For the Dodgers, this deal only makes sense as an extreme effort to free up money, which would then have to be used on a star. Carlos Beltran would be a viable alternative to Beltre, but it's unclear whether the Dodgers have had any talks with Scott Boras about him. Dec. 16 - 11:07 pm et

i think that is a minor hold up just woke up so don't know if done deal or not but penny and his health is just as big as a key if not more, trust me you can force a no trade guy out if you want him gone, they cam make it so messed up for him he will beg to be traded, dodgers better get some wood before end of spring training they have no off. might see totals of 7-7.5 as a norm with them if they don't pick up some rail splitters.

I agree with you about Penny's arm but I also think that those several years of 200 innings on Vasquez's young arm has caught up to him also so it could be questionable arm for questionable arm. Very disappointed about losing Beltre. Keeping my fingers crossed for Beltran but have heard nothing along those lines. Kent signing really didn't excite me all that much as he is on the downslide which has been masked by two years in a hitters park.

JT - I have a friend who is VERY depressed and concerned about LA's moves, or lack of, going back to the Penny deal. DePodesta and LA really didn't make that big a push hoping Koskie would fall in their lap and possibly trading for a guy like Hudson. Now everyone is being taken and they are left with Vazquez which is okay but trading their best bat (Green) and in my opinion their best young arm (Brazoban). He came up through the Yankee system and he reminds me a lot of a young Mariano Rivera.
