lately, ive been kinda isolating one nfl play each sunday. this week -- hitting two for a pretty good amount each

cleveland clowns (+10)
shot on cleveland clowns moneyline (+450)

dont care who is under center for the clowns this week, i think anti-san diego is the way to go here. right now, it looks like mccown is gonna get another start. chargers are laying double digits 2500 miles from home in the middle of december? no thanks. did i mention theyve got indianapolis on deck next week? how about snow in the forecast and an expected gametime temp of about 25 degrees. its gotten damn cold in a hurry along the northcoast. can an inexperienced san diego handle the inclement weather? my money says no. clowns have been good to be when ive tried em this year. and nfl is so fu.cked up that theyll probably put up 400 yards of total offense after their debacle last week. as far as nfl plays go, this is a big one for me.

baltimore ravens (+7.5)
shot on baltimore ravens moneyline (+250)

strong rushing dog against a team that is still very suspect on that side of the ball. billick is the kind of arrogant coach thats not in a hurry to get passing records broken while on his watch. colts havent been tested in over a month. theyve put up huge numbers on the bears, lions, and texans. if baltimore controls the clock, they can win. listening to patrick, mcguire, and theismann suck mannings d1ck for four hours will be incredibly annoying, but counting on the ravens to get it done.

GL with both plays gman. I am leaning towards the Ravens myself. ;) I expect the Indy defense to be getting a heavy dose of JLew (my guess is (35-40 att).

i will not bet on the colt$ thsi week out of respect for the ravens def. however, is this not the same crew that got there a$$ kicked by kc earlier this year ? ravens will be at the mercy of the refs the whole game. no penalties, good game. priest holmes & t green beat these guys silly earlier this year. is peyton/james not as good ? the game is on turf as well. if the ravens hang close it will be because of to's (imagine that) or because they threw the ball well. they cannot line up and run the entire game. the colt$ struggle with balanced off teams, but they will stop a group that is run only. jmo

if the ravens cannot rush peyton up the middle i look for them to lose by more than 10. :sadwave:

Can see the appeal of the ravens getting 7.5 or 8 depending on where you shop, but cannot see them winning this week. Think a hot indy team at home rolls enough to at least win the game IMO!

I respect your posts and football knowledge especially in the college forum but I have a better chance of seeing Santa Claus dropping his fat ass down my chimney and into my living room on Chritmas eve than the Cleveland Clowns have of beating the Chargers this week in Cleveland. The Clowns posted a whopping 26 yds total offense last week (was 17 before the NFL added 9 extra yards) in Bufalo and lost their Center Jeff Faine to an injury in the process. The Chargers haven't gained a playoff spot yet and will be extra motivated by their boss Marty Shottenheimer to post a win in Marty's old stomping ground Clevevland. This one could get ugly!

Good luck on the 2 Gman. was looking at the Brownies +10 but the moneyline might be a bit much. Against you on the Ravens simple because of home field advantage and the Marino TD make means the fans will be out in full force. GL

Cheers

Love the plays. Have Balt +15 in a teaser myself (got it at +9 earlier in the week at a mybookie affiliate)...And Cleveland, I guess I ahve to go against my bolts for the first time all year. They have no business laying 10 here after facing two of the most punishing defenses in the league in Tampa and Denver. I was both games and some of the hits these guys took throughout both games really seemed to take their toll by about the 3rd quarter in the Tampa game. They weren't as firey as the were playing all year. All in all this is definatley a game I could see the Bolts losing straight up because of their playoff comfortablity right now...Thanks

to my own surprise, suggs WILL be back playing tomorrow. he's not 100% (by his own admission) but any reps he sees will be a positive for the browns offense.

===
Lee Suggs, who missed eight games this season, including the past three with a toe injury, will play Sunday against San Diego, the league's top-ranked run defense. "It doesn't feel perfect, but I believe I can play the whole game if they need me to," he said.

Robiskie said Suggs' return would give the Browns a lift.

"He doesn't have to play every play, but if he can play through four quarters, it would be a blessing."

Suggs or no Suggs, they will not be able to run against the top run defense in football. Brownies hopes lie in their ability to pass.

Even with a moderately successful passing game, can they outscore San Diego's offense? I don't think so.....I agree the +10 could be a solid play, but the ML is a real streach

Good luck on your action this week

seems a good handful concur on the spread, but many think its preposterous that the browns could win outright.

are the chargers far better than the browns overall? absolutely. SHOULD they win? yes. will they win? ive got a hard time believing san diego would win in 20 degree and snowy weather 4 out of 5 times. a more representative line and ML imo would be 6 or 7 and -280 or -300. for four hours, san diego is really out of their element. can really see this one going either way.

suggs now officially probable. with all due respect to 'screamin pain', thats a big re-addition to the browns lineup. some semblance of a running game is vital to take pressure of mccown and for whatever reason, green is running with no confidence right now and hes putting the ball on the turf way too much. even if the browns muster 50-70 yards on the ground, at least its something chargers have to account for. also worth noting that suggs had his best games in the final weeks of last season against teams playing for playoff position.

by no means trying to make the browns out to be anything near a prize. they stink. but very good spot for them to show some sack on sunday afternoon. starting to get blustery along the coast.
conversely, im not trying to take anything away from SD whatsoever, because this is a very solid football team. but theyre not a team that strikes me as capable of handling business against a lame team in less than optimal conditions.

Oddly, I would love the browns today if Harris was starting. If gametime conditions shape up as predicted there will be no need to throw the ball down field, perhaps just a handful of intermediate patterns would be all that he needs to grasp. The browns if smart, have already put the option in the playbook for him, and we both know what he can do with his legs.

It makes way too much sense to think that the browns have contemplated this notion. Just a thought.

what makes a 'good game' in the nfl? not too many marquee gms on the slate, but thats not my style anyways.

spang:

i can assure you, game time conditions have been shaping up as predicted, lol. interesting thought about harris. could very well happen. itd be reminiscent of when palmer had kevin johnson play quarterback against the titans in the browns early years in the same kind of conditions. scrap the playbook and use your athletes. why the hell not?

gman ~ as i browns fan i understand all your thoughts on todays game.

but there are plenty of browns players that cant handle this kind of weather.

no way can i put money on clev. today (though i hope they pull it out for you) because the LINE was bad when the starters were healthy & now even the center os out :sadwave:

i just think there may be a better game on the board ~ who knows +10 may be good but not good enough for me to bet it.

ill watch the game on the tube & root for all jackers who have the browns :)
