A smarmy Capra effort designed to rebuild humanities crediblity in itself after a cleansed percentage of the planet had been annihilated in the name of WW2.
George Bailey rips off the bank he works for to the tune of $8,000, a tidy sum in 1946. He gets so busted and threatens suicide. An angel comes to the rescue, smooths everything over and the citizenry go into their pockets to pay the bank back
Insert Halliburton, the US Government, George Bush or the reigning president, the American Taxpayer wherever you think they fit.

consider that after inheriting recession--9-11--corporate scandals that had been running rampant are finially discoverred and prosecuted costing numerous jobs--2 wars--unprecidented upheaval bynatural disasters-- hurricanes
----and we have best markets since 9-11--lowest inflation--lowest interest rates-highest home ownership at all time high--unemplyment at 5.4 the same at end of Clintons 1st term,which was void of the above catastrophes

I don't remember and recession when Mr. I don't make any mistakes was elected. And the corporate scandals backed who. And are a few of those still walking the street after 4 years of Bush. Hey for all we know 9/11 would not have happen if Gore had won. We will never know. We do know he blew a huge surplus and a recession did get under way by May of his first year. That was 4 months before 9/11.

It was kind of a christmas joke
Macy's and Gimbles was on 34th & 6th-7th and was the theme of Mracle on 34th St.There was so much rationing and scrounging for 4 years during the war that business had to deal with people who weren't material anymore so it put out alot of necessary propaganda to win them back. Some had it that the stores put up the $$ to make it as a commercial with no idea it would become a classic
