I wish they would sign varitek and train Piazza to play a respectable First base. Then sign a right fielder.

before they do anything else they need to good arms in bp, that is what they need to get and they will work on that as much as they can, you still have a staff of 6 inn pitchers as their starters, pm won't go past 7 tops in many games if at all, no dh makes a big difference and their bp needs help major help, to go along with the 6 innings starters.

piazza can stay and catch. it would be easier to sign a 1b, like del-got-it.

this team is far from being a contender still.

pedro can pitch lights out, it wont matter when his run support is under 2.0

Farnsworth is on the block.. Mets should take on Sosa for Floyd as long as we get Farnsworth somehow.
Maybe throw Valent and Phillips in.

Mets then should sign JD Drew and Varitek

I say leave Piazza for now and nail a good first baseman. He is too clumsy for 1st base. I'm not sure about this Delgado character. He has scumbag written all over him and Shea Stadium will eat him alive..his stats will die at Shea.

Where have the Keith Hernandez type players gone? There is talk of obtaining SWEENEY from K.C.---

If anything..maybe let Piazza go at trade dead-lines for something decent when other teams get desperate playoff fever.

Piazza should be a DH now, nothing else. Delgado is still valuable if he hits .250 with his walks and power.

Floyd for Sosa and farnsworth.

Sign Tino for First which would be huge for the clubhouse.

Take a flier on Ordonez for left.

Lineup would be solid. Not great but solid. Rotation is also solid.

Go into the season like that deal piazza to Angels if mets are not in the hunt at the deadline.
