Winding Down The 2004 Season With These Bowl Games...

Quarters, halftimes & teasers 5-2 (played Fres +onehalf at halftime, posted in halftime thread)
Well, find myself in a little dilemma, although a good one, for this Independence Bowl. Already played Iowa State +3 on Friday and now the game is at a pick. Small window, but still a shot at a middle here. Think I'll play a half unit on Miami. Statistically the Redhawks are a better team on both sides of the ball. They do, however, have a high rate of turnovers which plays right into the hands of a strong Cyclone defense. Couple that with that anemic Iowa State running game and you have all the makings of an under/total play. Of course I was counting on the great Virginia defense yesterday and we know how that turned out. Plus I stil sukk at totals so bad. My New Year's Resolution is to study up on totals and become more proficient for next season. Will remain content at winning just a half unit with my Cyclone play (but still a chance at winning both)
Still pondering the Insight Bowl. Seems originally everyone was leaning OreSt including me. Now with the line at four there seems to be a few ND backers posting plays. The weak (or shall I say nonexistant) running game of the Beavers gives the Irish a legitimate shot at this one.(plus, RS is on them and he is in the zone) But with so many outside distractions I'm passing for now.

oh boy... we're thinking alike today. From what I can remmber though, when we're playing the same thing, we've won. Let's keep that streak alive!

Man it's so hard to get a good read on these bowl teams with all the down times between the seasons' end and the bright lights of THE GAME. Just another reason to chuck out the cappn' and pick up the coin for a quick toss. Total second half collapses by Virginia and UTEP, no shows on the parts of Toledo, UCLA, and OKSt, and the inefficiencies of the kickers just add to the frustration of the college bowls. Hanging my hat on three teams today and a teaser and hope I can finish the bowl season on the positive side. Here's hoping

gl today and congrats on ur nice record to this point. I like the NM and N.ILL picks. NC/BC is a tough call for me. I think BC gets it done but hard to argue w/ what UNC has accomplished this yr when many werent expecting much from them. And of course NC played in a much tougher conference. I am definitely on N.ILL today but still on the fence with NM and BC.
Think things get worse than the weather for the Lobos in the second half. Lost their running back Bailing here and taking Navy +3 and Over 21
Surely didn't count on New Mex's drive end up with zero after first and goal. Then Navy puts together a 26 play 14+ minute drive for a field goal. Kinda shoots the over, doesn't it?

A little damage control in order for today's games. Thank goodness NIU came thru (a rare 2unit play) or a tourniquet would be needed. Have strong feelings on all four bowl games today. My thoughts parallel so many of those already shared on the forum. No need to get cramps in my fingers typing.
