Does Shaun Alexander have a valid argument?

Is this another case of a selfish athlete pouting because he didnt get his own way or did Holgrem shaft him?

"This is the first time I've ever been back-stabbed in my life," Alexander said in the Qwest Field locker room after the Seahawks won the NFC West title by outlasting the Atlanta Falcons 28-26. The focus of Alexander's frustration was what proved to be the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Faced with a second-and-goal from the Falcons' 1-yard line with 4 1/2 minutes to play, the call was for a sneak by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Not a handoff to Alexander. As a result, he finished with 80 rushing yards in the game and 1,696 for the season. The Jets' Curtis Martin, who began the day 72 yards behind Alexander, rushed for 153 in New York's overtime loss to the St. Louis Rams to finish with 1,697.

if he had incentives that he didn't get because of that, then he might have an arguement, but it is a team sport, bottom line.

If he got shafted, it pales in comparison to Ditka's call to give the fat f**k Fridge a Super Bowl TD carry instead of Walter Payton back in 85.

If it's just about pride, he should shut up. But if he had an incentive clause in his contract for winning the rushing title, then he absolutely has a legitimate bitch.

This is such a typical discussion to be having regarding the modern athlete. Holmgren's only concern must be to win the game, and it was a very close game. The home game in the playoff has huge revenue implications, not just for that game itself, but also for the increased likelihood they will win the home game and then have another massive revenue-generating play-off game.

Alexander's own stats are insignificant and immaterial compared to the needs of the team. "Back-stabbed"?? What a typically pathetic, moronic, self-obessed jerk.

No comparison with Ditka's mindless bluunder in the SB with Walter.........Ditka has said many times he regretted doing that, and did apologize to Walter. Walter, being Walter, never held a grudge.

The difference between Payton and Alexander could not be greater.

this is another example of the "me first" mind thought of some athletes.

i'm pretty sure that he fumbled in the jets game at the jets 1 yard line a few weeks ago.if that didn't happen then he would have tied martin's record.

On the course!
I would think they assumed they would get the ball back again, with 5 minutes left after the score.

tiki barber needed 2 yards to break joe morris single season giants rushing record.ball on 2 down by 3 15 seconds left 2nd dn no timeouts left. tom c goes against conventinal wisdom[3pass plays because of no timeouts] and calls a rushing play :scared tiki gets game winning td and single season record everybody goes home happy  i know the shawks game meant alot more but makes you think.if a coach really likes you he will give you the shot.tiki gets stopped there might not even get a chance for the game tying fg.

The Giants game meant absolutely nothing. The Seahawks game, as pointed out above, would decide if the Hawks would get a home playoff game, and greatly increase their chances of winning that game, which would lead to another game.

Enormous difference, no comparison. I don't think it's about liking the guy at all.

And if they do give him the ball and he doesn't score & get the record and they dont win the game, everyone would be bitching that Mike cared more about S.A. getting a record rather than winning the game.......

Give me the Millions and I'll run my ass off and keep my mouth shut for the team.........Oh, sorry, I forgot its not a team sport anymore....
