It's the University of Spoiled Children because parents can buy their kids into USC. You have to earn your way into UCLA. The location has nothing to do with the monniker. I lived in So Cal for 8 years and heard the talk all the time, but it could just be rumors. Of course it could be called that because only the children of wealthy families (or scholarship athletes) can afford to go to USC because of the high tuition, whereas UCLA is a state school.

USC was only 2nd to Stanford in CA for incoming freshman SAT's and GPA.

USC incoming students had higher GPA's and SAT scores than both UCLA and CAL's.

USC used to not be so academic but now USC is one of the top academic Universities in the country. Prob. ranked top 30.

As for football recruits, USC has a higher min. standard than the NCAA min. Teams like OU and LSU etc. accept and take any athlete.

Oh, sorry. After I saw the thread title I assumed this thread was about SMU in Dallas.

Hey kids, not smart enough to get into a good school? Still wanna pay Ivy League prices for a community college education? Come to SMU!!!

Lol Id have to agree with the SMU analysis...I went to school with Jerry Buss's kid and even she stressed out at times about getting into SC...I think SMU allows some of the stupidest kids in the nation into their campus...some girls that I didnt think could last in community college bought their way into SMU from California, they even knew how easy it was to get into from here lol

Hey Scott I'd like to see the proof that USC won't take any blue chip athlete because of grades.
