Marist -6 over Siena **
The question tonite is.. does Haddix play.He's been out a few weeks and practiced on wed .Kojo Mensah also has been out and practiced.Haddix needs to play.He's one of the top players in the MAAC and a force inside the paint.Siena has been in a big slump.Freshman McClinton has avg 15 pts the past 3 games taking Kojo's place.Was named MAAC rookie of the week.Jordan the 6'4 superman has avg only 8 pts a game.Mitchell got benched with these freshman gds.But local star T.Fisher is returning to his backyard.He leads the Saints in 3's.Magarity dropped the ball and recruited Taj to late.I can see Lanier giving him big playing time tonite.Half of Kingston will be there.Beers another good shooter has been a big disappointment.If Haddix doesn't play Siena has no frontline.Sniezyk the 6'10 kid can pick up 2 fouls in the 1st two minuts.He'll foul on the jump ball.Just pump once and he's so awkward he'll knock you down.Slow and has no offense.
Marist just lost to Liberty at home by 1.Liberty had lost 7 in a row.They have played a tougher schedule but have ben inconsistent.Lost to holy Cross by 27,Vermont by 16.Siena lost to Vermont by 25.Siena also lost to Albany by 21.
Foxes have the best 3 pt shooter in the country.Whittington is avg 18 pts a game,shooting 48-88 from the 3 at a 54% pace.This soph is unreal.Even on the road he's hitting them.Tonite he'll hit 1 from the Hudson River and the other from Rt 9.What range..Jordan is one of the best passers in the country.Leads in assits.McClurkin is the 6'9 inside player.He'll battle Haddix inside tonite.Avg 12 pts and 8 bds.Stiphen is the 6'8 surprise.He can score and rebound.Hood and Monagan are pretty solid gds.Mono is back from his injuries.Still there best defensive player.Farmer and Orman also get playing time.
Siena is last in the MAAC in,offense,last in scoring margin,FG%,3 pt FG%,Defending the 3 pt fg, last in rebounding and 2nd to last in assits.Marist is 5th in scoring,3rd in FG%,1st in 3 pt,1st in 3pt FG%,2nd in rebounding and 2nd in assits.
Defense..there both bad.
So you have the worst 3 pt defensive FG% team vs the best 3 Pt shooting team.Playing at home,and just maybe the star of the other team might not play.
I'll take the Red Foxes -6.Brady plays uptempo and has Whittington.Siena will have Jordan gd him.Foxes will play ther amtchup 2-3 zone.Siena doesn't have the outside shooters.Unless Taj gets personnel and wants to show Marist up for passing over him.
If Haddix does play it coud be close.If he doesn't Marist can win this by double digits.
And even if Haddix does play he can't be 100%.
Would love to put more down on this game but Foxes are so inconsistent.They just got by Cornell and Lafayette at home.Did beat St Peter at home and lost to rider by 1 away.But Siena beat Youngstown by 1 in 4 overtimes.Young is not a very good team.And that was w/o Haddix.
Tonite Marist has a big promo.."Take a kid to the game "Every kid gets a free ticket.McCann could be packed tonite.
I have a friend who will be at the game.He is going to call me and watch Haddix warmup in the layup drills.Probaly can't tell much from that but maybe...But I won't be home so I can't post here.
Going out for dinner with my wife.I can see it now..her cell phone rings and my buddy asks for me." box Haddix is....." "hon..I have to make a few calls.." It will be divorce court...not a basketball court.
Might go to the Manhattan-Marist game on Sunday..
