The Tar Heels prepare for their first ACC test of the season, hosting the Maryland Terps at the Dean Dome today at noon. I know we will run, and run hard. As we have shown, we don't really care who we are playing our goal is to run them ragged. Fortunately, Maryland is a team that also likes the fun and gun style of play. On the surface, Maryland hasn't done much to impress me. I've watched them play a few games, they lost their 2 toughest games. The losses have been at Wisconsin (69-64) and against George Washington (101-92). In both of those games they turned the ball over 18 times. We will put a lot of pressure up front on them to fuel our fast break, which means 1 of 2 things. They will either beat the press for easy points, or turn the ball over and result in easy points our way. I would expect us to cover the 11 but do not want to play it. This is the ACC and anything can happen, I expect Maryland to be up for this game. The totals are what really look good to me. The line has gone over 9 of the last 10 games in the series. The books are in a tough spot this year in the ACC...there are just going to be some high lines put out I think (170s+) later in conference play in games like unc/wake etc. Basically my feeling on this game is that at least 1 team will score 90, most likely the heels, with Maryland somewhere 10 point range behind that. If you are going to get on the over, do it quick. I've waited all morning and hit it when it came out, and it's already at -135 whereas i got it at -117.
