HELL
NY Jets at Pittsburgh (-9)

I truly didn't think the line would be this high. It is 9 for a reason. This will be the Jets third straight game on the road and all were meaningful/emotional tests. Pittsburgh pulled away late in the first meeting without a healthy Staley and no Burress. In the first round of the playoffs, we saw marginal teams (except Indy) and dogs pull out three wins...don't think that happens here. The Jets don't possess the big play capability of threatening to win this game. Burress will open things up for the offense and Pittsburgh will put this game away earlier than the fourth quarter. I don't think the Jets have ever won in Pittsburgh either. Pennington was confused in 3 INT's in the first meeting and think it will be the same this time around.

My play is Pittsburgh minus the points and will update later in the week. I am sure this will be considered a homer play, but I just fill the Jets will run out of steam against a very physical Steelers team. Big play for me.

I totally agree with you, I actually figured this line would be around 10. With that said I like the Steeles to cover. They had time now to get healthy which is something they really needed and with like JR said the Jets have been on the road for 3 straight weeks and playing in SD last week I think that will come into play also. Dont get me wrong, the Jets do have talent and are a good team but my opinion is they dont have the team the Steelers do and they are totally outclassed when it comes to coaching. Bellicheck is one of the best if not the best coach in the league and he got totally outclassed when he and the Patriots played the Steelers. Before this year Cowher said he made a commitment to get back to his old coaching style and be more involved with the team. He was going to be harder on them and more focused than years past. One example of that is every year the team has a day off during training camp and they all go to the movies. This year Cowher made them practice to stay focused. Cowhers focus is one of the biggest reasons this team has succeeded as much as they did and havent looked past anyone. One other thing that has to be taking into consideration is that Pennington, I believe, has a rotater cuff problem, he seemed to throw ok in SD but that was with weather in the 50's. On Saturday the weather isnt going to be that nice and anyone that had an injury knows when its cold and wet outside that injury starts to act up and tighten up. I would imagine the Steelers will not let them run on them like they did last time they played but last game was a tough game for the Steelers. The game wasnt nearly as meaningful as this one is going to be... obviously. I was at the game and even the crowd wasnt into like usual. I think the Steelers will load the box up and let Pennington beat them but with people in your face, having a bad arm, and not a strong arm at that leads me to believe it will be a long day for Herm and the boys. H-O-M-E Jets are going Home, Home, Home.
Just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth but sometimes you have to look at the intangibles.

GangGreen, that is the best you got? Constuctive with your 148 posts. I could say, like anyone with the name GangGreen from New York wouldn't make a comment. I am just giving my opinion with play for the game. I am no way in any way shape or form a homer, as I got by ass handed to me when the played/won against Dallas, NE, and Philly. I for one was also a Cowher basher for not being a field general, time will tell again. I just think the line is that high for a reason and is the third week on the road for the Jets after two emotional/meaningful games....a good spot for the Steelers IMO. No wonder why I just post my plays without write-up's. There is no guarentee with anyting, this is just my play. Fade away.

Well, Well Steelers fans, where do I begin....

First off, I would just like to say Steelers are one hell of a team having a remarkable season. But before you over stuff your bellies with too many Roethlisberger's smothered in Heinz ketchup, thus clouding your thoughts, I will point out several reasons why they will not cover the 9pts. Will they win the game, unfortunately probably yes because I have a feeling the Jets might run out of steam late in the game after several grueling games these past weeks and all the traveling but they will not cover!!!!

1. I will start with the issue of Chad Penningtons injured shoulder and not being able to throw downfield. If you recall, the game against pittsburgh was only his second game back from the injury. It was by far his worst outing this year throwing for only 189yds and 3 ints which was his season high. Since that day though, the arm is getting stronger and he sure as hell looked dam good in SD. I saw him throw a 50yd ball (in the air) and have it drop in Moss's arms in perfect stride. Another interesting stat that they showed during this weekends game was that Chad has the #1 QB rating for balls thrown over 25 yds (in the air) in all of the NFL. Granted, he might not throw as many as other QB's but when he picks his spots, he is money!

2. As for Roethlisberger, the kid looks great and I am not going to take anything away from him. But lets not get carried away, Pitt has an amazing defense and a great running game that carries them. Pitt runs a scaled back offense that helps minimize his mistakes. He also had his worst game of the season against the Jets going 9 - 19 for 144yds and 2 picks, not very productive! He will be getting his first taste of the postseason lets see how he responds under that pressure.

3. In the first meeting this year, the score was 3-3 in the 4th until Pitt opened it up and ended up winning by 11. Lets all keep in mind, Chad just came back from injury and threw 3 ints and the Jets who are the #1 least penalized team in the NFL got called for 12 penalties alone in the first half in that game and they still stayed right with them. I can guarantee they will not get called for that many penalties again killing drives for themselves and keeping Pitt drives alive and Chad will not throw the ball as horrific.

4. If you look even closer the Jets have only lost twice this entire year by more than 9pts, the current line on this game. That is only 2 out of 17, I will take those odds anytime.

OK, I can go on and on but bottom line is be careful when thinking Pitt will steamroll the Jets, its not going to happen

J-E-T-S + 9 = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Grizape,

I am not saying the Jets are a bad play but how can you justify the comment that the Jets have only been bet 2x out of 17 by more than 9 considering that one of those 2x was against Pitt. The other was of course to NE. Obviously this Top 8 Jets team is not going to lose by more than 9 to the best competition in this league. But they did lose by more than 9 to arguably the top 2 teams in the league. Your chances of a loss of more than 9 being 2/17 severely diminish when you consider the fact that they are playing at PITT.

I was also at the game when the Bills beat Jets by 5 in Buffalo. The Bills dominated the game and would have won by more than 9 if not for a bomb in the last couple of minutes of the game that was sort of lucky. And Pitt's 2nd and 3rd stringer showed last week that Buffalo is not even in the same atmosphere as Pitt. I consider Jets and Bills equivalent teams towards the end of the season, with the Jets having a slight edge because of Pennington, but Buffalo having better WRs with Evans and Moulds.

The Line seems about right to me..... I won't touch this one.... The fact that Ben had his worst game of the year and they still won by 11 points should say something.... The Jets were also able to roll coverage to Ward because Plax was out that game.

Keep in mind, the Jets are a tired/beat up team playing on a short week....

Grizape, you make some good points and I appreciate you not being bias. Im not bias either by any means. Money is money and if I thought Pitt had no chance of covering believe me I would say that and say why.

Like I said in my last post, the game that the Steelers played against the Jets they were going through the motions it seemed like. They didnt lay down or by any means over look the Jets but in my opinion they didnt give their best effort until they realized the game is close and they cant mess around anymore. Like I said even the crowd wasnt loud and into the game until we realized we had a shot of losing the game. I think the reason why good teams lose games are because they lose their focus and get into a mind frame that they are going to win no matter what. The Steelers havent done that all year. Cowher has had them focused and ready to roll every week. The Jets are a good team just not as good as Pitt this year. I believe that Cowher will have the team ready to play and I know the Steelers respect them and will not over look them.

Good luck with whatever you bet!

Oh yeah...whats up with Shaun Ellis the DE basically guaranteeing victory this week. Why do players give other teams more motivation?

Steelers 24-10
