My boss, against my advice, got a Mac Laptop and we are having trouble getting his laptop to work on our network. His computer can connect to the wireless router and he shows up on the network, but he can't open any broswers or check his email, it's like he's on the network but he doesn't have an internet connection. I have tried manually entering an IP address, and I have tried to have the router assign it one, and neither has worked. Don't know what else to do, any suggestions?

Well i got it to work hardwired, but I can't get it to work wirelessly, I don't know if the problem is with the wireless router or the computer. IT's a dlink router, and I hate all dlink router products, they make them so compliicated, what happened to plug and play.

in the ip connections there should be an option for the wireless router, along with usual dhcp, ip manually, etc.....need to verify that the wireless is chosen...sorry but it has been two years since i worked on macs, although they are a 100% better.....

Do yah have an airport card installed??? You need one of those and it should work without any problem. You have to go to the little aiport icon (top right hand) and select the name of my dsl connection in order for it to work. Your boss is a VERY bright man!!!

Thanks, we got it to work, I think it had something to do with the dlink router, b/c we had another wireless router in the office and we plugged that one in and everything worked.

By the way, an Airport express is a GREAT 802.11g hub and only costs about $150. Your boss might spring for it.
