Blackwidow Sports Picks

Premium Picks for Wednesday, January 19th

NCAA BB

6 units on NC State -6

NC State is 13-3 ATS after having lost two out of their last 3 games and 8-2 ATS after having lost 4 out of 5. Va Tech is 3-12 ATS after having won 2 out of their last 3 games. The Wolfpack obviously hit a stretch where they looked pathetic, but after last week's win against Georgia Tech the team looks like they are ready for a rebound to get through the rest of the ACC schedule.

4 units on Xavier -6

Xavier is 17-4 ATS after a game in which they made 50% or more of their 3-point attempts and 5-1 ATS at home off a loss to a conference rival. Richmond finally picked up a win against Rhode Island after dropping 4 straight games. They are only 2-7 on the road this season and while Xavier isn't as good as years past, they should come out angry after losing to Fordham and put a number on Xavier.

4 units on Arkansas +3.5

Arkansas has been in a little bit of a tailspin lately and this is a good spot for them to pick off a not very good LSU Tigers team. LSU is just 7-23 ATS against teams who average 77+ ppg and 3-11 ATS a game after they gave up 5 or less offensive rebounds. The Razorbacks get back on track tonight.

4 units on Miami FL +8

Of course Duke has proved themselves to be one of the best teams in the nation this year, but Miami has quietly played pretty well themselves. The team has only one ACC loss, an 11 point defeat at the hands of Georgia Tech, but have beaten NC State, Florida State, and Virginia since. Miami is 26-6 ATS against teams who hold opponents to less than 39% shooting and 7-1 ATS against teams with winning records. The Devils are a little overvalued today as they enter a hostile Miami environment.

Locksmith Sports Picks Premium Picks for 1/19/2005
NCAAB: 4 Units On Xavier -5.5 -108 -108 - Richmond is just 1-6 ATS against teams who shoot better than 45% while Xavier is 17-4 ATS after a game in which they made more than half their 3-point attempts. The Spiders have won just twice in 9 road games this season and will be entering a very hostible environment tonight since Xavier is coming off a tough loss at Fordham. Xavier isn't very good defensively, but on the offensive end of the court they will outgun Richmond and win this game by double digits.

NCAAB: 3 Units On Southern Illinois -11.5 -110 - Bradley is just 2-8 ATS on the road when playing a team that has won more than 80% of their games on the year and 1-5 ATS on the road after a home win against a Missouri Valley rival. Southern Illinois has allowed 60 or less points in two straight games and they have gone 5-1 ATS the game following accomplshing that feat the last 3 seasons. Bradley is 1-4 on the road this season while Southern Illinois is a perfect 9-0 on their home floor, averaging a win by nearly 15 points this year. Bradley isn't very good and Southern Illinois will take advantage and pick up an easy win.

NCAAB: 3 Units On West Virginia -3 -109 - Notre Dame is 1-5 ATS on the road against teams who average 33 or less rebounds per game while West Virginia is a perfect 8-0 ATS the last 3 seasons against teams who make more than 37% of their 3's. West Virginia has been tough this season on their home floor, winning 8 out of 9 and even though they have lost their last 4 games ATS, that just sets this game up for them being a little undervalued. I think they take care of a Notre Dame that has hit a little dip in their last couple of games.

NCAAB: 3 Units On Providence -1 100 - Providence is 7-0 ATS on the road after a game in which they shot better than 55% and 6-1 ATS on the road after allowing 75 points or more in 2 straight games. Providence's struggles aren't anything we are going to worry about when we take a look at Rutgers and see a lot bigger problems. The team has lost 4 straight and during that span covered only once, and that was by a single point to an over-rated Pitt team. Providence is the play here tonight as they win this one by 5.

NCAAB: 3 Units On Southern Miss -3.5 -102 - St. Louis hasn't been very good this year and I see Southern Miss taking care of business in front of their home crowd. St. Louis is just 1-5 ATS when playing against a team that is slightly above .500 while Southern Miss is 5-1 ATS at hom eagainst teams who average less than 53 shots per game. Southern Miss may be struggling, but they are 8-1 on their home floor and are welcoming a St. Louis team that has won only once in 7 road trips this season. Lay the points.

NCAAB: 3 Units On Texas Tech -1.5 -108 - Missouri is just 7-17 ATS against teams who make more than 37% of their 3-point attempts and 2-8 ATS after 4 straight games of forcing their opponents to commit 14 or less turnovers the last 3 seasons. Texas Tech has won 5 of their last 6 games, with that sole loss coming against Oky State. Missouri has dropped two straight games and should have lost their Big 12 opener against Iowa State. I just don't think the Tigers are that great of a team and the Red Raiders take care of them tonight.

NBA: 3 Units On Knicks +4.5 -107 - I know New York has been struggling while the Raptors have been hot, but I have to give the nod to the Knicks for this one. New York is 5-1 ATS against teams who make more than 36% of their 3-point attempts while Toronto is just 1-6 ATS against teams who allow opponents to shoot better than 46%. Toronto plays down to their competition, going 15-32 ATS against teams with a losing record the last 3 years and while the struggling Knicks coming into town, this is a game that the Raptors might take lightly

NCAA Basketball

10* on UNC-Wilmington -7.5

William and Mary has been horrible this season, winning just one out of their last 9 games. Wilmington is 19-8 ATS after 2 or more straight wins the last 3 seasons and 35-15 ATS after 5 straight games of committing 14 or less turnovers. There is no doubt who the better team is here and I see a double digit blowout on the way.

7* on UAB -9

Tulane is 1-7 ATS at home against teams who committ less than 14 turnovers per game and 2-8 ATS at home against teams who shoot more than 62 times per game. UAB is 7-0 ATS after failing to cover the spread in 4 out of their last 5 games while Tulane is 12-25 ATS at home off a loss to a conference rival.

7* on North Carolina -11

North Carolina is 7-1 ATS after a combined score of 165 points or more this season and 12-4 ATS after a road game in which both teams scored 75 points or more. The Tar Heels the last 3 seasons are 8-1 ATS off an upset loss as a favorite while Clemson is 1-5 ATS at home after allowing 25 points or less in the first half of their previous game
