Iona -10.5 over Canisius ***
Iona is on a roll winning 4 of last 5.Team has so much talent but from the coach down, low basketball IQ.But after watching them beat Marist the other by 10 it was really a blowout.Marist scored on a couple of 3's to make it respectful.And w/o McClurkin Iona scored 41 pts in the paint.The gds actually are passing the ball inside to Jenkins.Solivar and Burtt are two outstanding gds.They do everything except hit the 3's.Canisius away from Buffalo are hurting[1-6 away].They are coming off a whipping from Fairfield friday nite.Iona already lost @ Can 75-63 a few weeks ago.But since that loss there 4-0 in MAAC beating Peter,Loy,Manhattan and Marist.
In last 8 games vs each other Iona is 7-1 SU and 5-2 ats.Think Gaels realize they have won 4 in a row because just maybe there playing smarter.
Fairfield +4 over Manhattan **
After the Jaspers lost to Rider 75-46 they could be fired up today.Mulligan and Anderson are back.They both avg 20 and 16 pts a game.Anderson has been named MAAC rookie 6 times already.Mulligan is in the top 20 in the country in scoring.But MC has no depth.There 2 replacements in the Rider game scored 6 pts.
MC is 4-5 in the MAAC.They have dominated the past 4 yrs playing defense,rebounding and Louis Flores.Flores is in the NBA and MC is dead last in the MAAC in rebounding.There defense is still good but nowhere near lyr.
Gonzalez is having a tough yr.Esp when Thur nite his 2 stars go into Fenwicks Bar and start a fight.
Stags are on a roll like Iona.They have won 4 out of 5.The Marist upset was a wake up call.
Gai is a force inside blocking shots all over.Maxwell is scoring and those 2 little midget gds are better then the jaspers midget gds.
In this corner you have 5'5 and 5'9 vs 5'6 and 5'10.The only difference is the Stag gds can shoot better.
CJ and Dubois are 2 solid freshman inside.I can see CJ getting into early foul trouble vs Gai.And MC has no bench.In the Iona game Jenkins fouled out all 3 frontline players.Gonzalez almost had the waterboy dress at halftime.Mulligan is there only consistent scorer.Anderson is explosive.But Kono is there only outside threat and he's in a season long slump.
MC has dominated this series winning 6-2 SU but only 4-4 ats.Lyr MC came up to Conn and beat the Stags by 20.Two nite later Stags came to the bronx and almost won losing by 3.
Think today Stags have a good chance of winning this.Stags shoot better,rebound better,play better defense,have more depth,etc
Niagara-Loy -20 *
Passing on this game.NU avgs 85 on offense and gives up 77 on defense.Loy avg's 66 on offense and gives up 77 on defense.Loy last 4 games teams have scored,86,80,71 and 89. Away from home they have lost by 11,18 and 20.But this could be a revenge game also.Loy upset NU 97-89 awhile back.Thats the most pts Loy scored since the Republicans have been in the White House.
Pastos has done a great job with this team.Former asst under Williams at Maryland.They press,trap,fast break.etc.He has 2 Terps transfers coming next yr.Maybe a lean towards the Purple today but a small play..Niagara can score 105 pts and Loy gets 87 and I lose.
