Would suggest watching Sheperd Smith at 2 oclock central. Should be good and reliable.Did a little test on 3 news media switching back and forth from 9:30 am to 10.00
CNN Excellent interview with Jackie Spinner of Wash Post on voting in Saddams home town with video of celebratrions ect. However they had no less than 4 reports of 36/40 killed and even reported again on 2 killed yesterday making no reference of those captured or how.Huge black eye on Kelly Wallace interview with mother of soldier that died. What timing??Do they not think this tactic is obvious yet?

MsNBC Has to be the armpit of broadcasting--constant ticker of "Hot Spots"Mark Mullen had totally different report than Springer and NO video.Had interview with Kerry who said election ment nothing unless we come together (like in past weeks cabinet nominations)and then proceeded to ramble for 5 minutes on what he proposed on war in speech in Missouri during campaign.Didn't listen to it but since he has taken every stance at one time or another-----
Kerry's toast--even the interviewer looked dejected.

The other was Fox and let others report on that--however did find something of interest about 36 to 40 killings that I would have found out if not for 5 minute break in from Shepard Smith.
During week on internet messages from terrorist they threatened over 400 suicide bombings which never materialized in fact thefew that did occur mostly happened just prior to polls opening. The one where suicide bomber killed policeman and guard after being stopped just before the getting to voting line was in northern town( i fotgot name) but per his report not one voter left the line after explosion.

All in all politics aside--I for one feel better that these people had courage to defy the terrorist at risk of their own lives. I have always had the fear that maybe we were doing this for nothing and they would be too passive after years of abuse to stand on thier own 2 feet. Feel much better better after seeing their celebrations--and what kind of wild dance is that anyway.
and the Blue fingers??--hmm I have scary suspicion there might be some of those missing in future. I somehow think that mild terrorist activities had more to do with them not wanting to confront security--and waiting till afterwards when they can hit andrun--however the most important issue is the people inIraq "have a taste" of freedom and it is contagious. Was big blow to terrorist--but the hard road ahead however I believe we will see civiliansturning in terrorist by thehand full now-they lost their credibilty.

Is amazing to see elections in middle east with in 2 years of occupation--especially in light of it took Germany 4 years and Japan 7 to do so.

maybe a off the cuff comment you are making

but I have always believed that this is exactly why the US went into Iraq.

Getting rid of Saddam was the first step.

Maybe we don't give george w enough credit.

A good friend of mine's eldest son died last week in Iraq. :( I felt this war was a mistake very early on and still am not overly optimistic. Still, I hope he and others did not die in vain and it all works out. Peace...

I would have to think these results, while encouraging to us, must be extremely exciting to the people of Iraq. In the midst of all the terror and bloodshed they have endured, there has been a clear majority of people that have stood up to the terrorist within their midst. People know that the courage and hope they are finding within themselves is prevalent within their neighbors, community, and country. They are not alone in their desires and can find more courage and hope knowing they are the clear majority. I think even more will step up now to fight the terrorists within their country. More police, stronger gov't with the people behind it. I would sacrifice my life for a better life for my children. Things are truly changing and the people of Iraq must sense this after the large turnout. It is exciting to watch and I can't help but feel so happy for those people who have suffered so long. There is hope and the chance to live happily. I'm sure they know the road is still much longer, but they can start to dream again.
