Any truth to the talk that Leinart is going to declare for the NFL Supplemental draft? I was listening to a sports talk show on the internet and some guys was on from one of the draft publications and he said that it's pretty much a done deal. He said, that Leinart will declare and try to steer himself to be picked by the Raiders, as he will warn other teams that he will not sign with them. I think the guy on the show was from Ourlads Draft report and he said that he had spoken to Leinart's dad and that they were unhappy that both Chow and the QB coach had left and felt Chow was mistreated.

Sorry to butt in but I think I have the scoop.

This guy named Lane Killan (who is pet of PC)

Chow got showed the door by Killan.

Chow and Lienert were big buddys and Chow promised not to leave USC.

Lienert pissed big time over Chow ouster.

PC in the middle of a hellstorm. May get canned.

Lane does all the recruiting anyways.

Supplemental draft may be declared.

At least thats the way I read things.

As far as I know Leinart is not going anywhere. Lets just say if he did want to get out and go the supplemental route, he wouldn't qualify. You have to graduate in time for the supplemental draft and Leinart is not close to graduating yet.

I also don't believe Leinart being pissed about his QB coach leaving. Carl Smith was only at USC one year and used USC as a one year stop. He is now OC for Jags I think. Sarkesian has been hired back to USC and will be Leinarts QB coach. He was Leianrts QB coach for 3 years and got along very well with him. Sark knows Chow's offense inside and out and he developed Leinart not Carl Smith.

Now I do believe Leinart being upset over Chow leaving.

The only thing true about your post is there is a lot of drama going on at USC, but Carroll feels its good drama. Carroll wants coaches leaving and high coaching turnover. Its good for the program.

USC lost their awesome DL coach but they took the Packers DL coach to replace him.

USC lost their awesome OL coach but they took the NY Giants OL coach who turned down the Browns to coach at USC.

USC lost Norm Chow (big loss) and replaced him with basically 2 up and coming yet inexperienced guys.

Not too many if any college teams can get positional NFL coaches to leave the NFL to coach NCAA at their same position. Doesn't happen but Carroll has hired AWESOME replacements.

Big question mark is offensive play calling. USC taking big risk on 2 young guys for OC.

Not sure how having your coaching staff leave and new people come in constitutes being good for the program, but you say alot of things I don't get.
...................................................................

His name is Lane Kiffin, and he is young, smart, ambitious and the new cardinal-and-golden boy of the USC football coaching staff.

Why does Lane Kiffin trouble you so much you won't even acknowledge his existance ?

Its very easy to explain. If Carroll hires great assistant coaches and they get promoted that is good for USC. That means USC is having success on the field AND everybody is taking notice. Coaches are screaming at the door to coach at USC because they can be promoted. Hell, USC DL coach got HC job at OLE MISS and is getting paid $1million year. The USC QB coach from last year got OC position with the Jags. Coaches across the country are taking notice and want to coach at USC. Not to mention USC is now loaded with talent so its not too difficult when you are coaching 5-star recruits as 2nd stringers. How does Carroll get OL and DL coaches from NFL to coach the OL and DL at USC? Neither of those 2 guys were fired from NFL and one of them turned down the BROWNS as OL coach.

In addition to what I just said, here is the other reason Carroll likes coaching turnover. With everything Carroll does at USC it revolves around COMPETITION. Getting new blood at USC creates competition and avoids complacency. These new coaches have something to prove and will be coaching their a$$ off because they want to get PROMOTED! It is proven they will get promoted at USC. The USC players now have to prove themselves to these new coaches because they have no seniority. Remember, Carroll doesn't care who you are, the best players play, PERIOD. That is a proven fact and recruits across the country have taken notice. USC is the pioneer of CFB in playing freshman and coaching them to succeed at high level. Open competition all year long. This results in high level intensity all year long. This is why USC had 50% of there team working out with the S&C coach 10 days after winning the Orange Bowl.

That is why Carroll likes coaching turnover. Yes he loses great coaches but I am sure Carroll didn't have too much trouble replacing great coaches with great coaches.

This is not just my opinion but Pete Carrolls words.

Why does Lane Kiffin trouble you so much you won't even acknowledge his existance ?

:142lmao:

Lane Kiffin is the son of Tampa Bay DC Monte Kiffin. I think he is only 27 or 29 years old and has been USC's WR coach for 4 years. Now he is has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator and will be in the booth on gamedays. Its a 3 man system for OC which I have no idea if it will work. I don't give him his due because he has not earned it. He has proven himself to being a great recruiter. He has zero experience being an OC other than sitting next to Norm Chow for 4 years on gamedays.

Scott4usc,
i have noticed at the usc boards that many people loved orgeron at usc. So far, he is a huge hit in oxford, and all over campus you can see many cars with a sticker that says O the coach, a take off on the W, the president sticker. It appears that he brings tons of energy to the program, and like carrol he is a "players coach." I was just wondring what the perception of him was like from people who follow USC football closely (i assume its safe to say that you do). Also at a press conference the other day he was saying how he was dissappointed about the lackluster non conference schedule, and hinted that a few years down the road that there may be a michigan series, and then added that him and coach carrol have talked about doing something.

I think Orgeron will be a fantastic HC at Ole Miss. I would want him coaching USC if Carroll left. Your program took a risk on Orgeron (since he has never been HC or even DC) but I am confident you landed a gem.

I listened to his press conference and what he said and plans to do at Ole Miss is an exact carbon copy of what him and Carroll did at USC. EXACT CARBON COPY! Orgeron was with Carroll from day one and is a smart man to do exactly what USC has done. You can't help but get pumped up listening to him speak. Players will play hard for him and I am now a Rebel fan. He also is an awesome recruiter. Very hard working man as well.

If you have any other questions about him or what to expect, feel free to ask.

Scott,

While I am not doubting your information since you keep great tabs on the Trojans program, but again today I heard this Leinart rumour twice on ESPN, first Mel Kiper stated that he is making a attempt to graduate this year to give him the option on entering the Supplemental Draft and on one of those roundtables that ESPN has one of the reporters said that the Raiders are not yet done dealing that they will be getting Leinart in the Supplemental Draft and that it was a done deal. He said Leinart has utilized a family friend with connections in the NFL to forewarn teams that he will not sign with them if they draft him and that he will only be willing to go to the Raiders. Just seems to be alot of fire here for there to be no truth at all to this story, I would love to see this guy land in Cleveland.

Here are quotes from Carroll at a Trojan lunch.

"Leinart is not going anywhere, just media b.s. re: supplemental draft."

You are smart. Leinart is the real deal. I thought maybe he was a product of the system and great/experienced players around him. Mike Williams IMO is the most dominant WR in CFB history.

Last year Leinart had new OL (i mean the whole OL), new WR's (the whole WR corps), and new FB. Plus Leianrt lost his #1 WR Smith for most of the year to injury during season and lost his #1 WR coming out of spring practice (lewis) to academics.

The guy is the real deal.

Lenart today publicy denied the rumors. Said he never once talked about leaving and graduating early. He def. will be playing for USC this coming season. Bad news for the rest of the Pac 10 and CFB.
