Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)

Wayne Levi to win 25/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
Opting for larger odds players in this event as this is where the value appears to be at current odds. There have been two Tour events this year and Levi has finished in the top-five in both of them. Having already won an event wire-to-wire last October and with a 6th place finish on this course last year, he looks well set to continue his run of top-5 finishes.

Don Pooley to win 50/1 e.w. @ SkyBet and BetInternet
Twice the price and also as impressive form. Pooley also finished in the top-5 in the last event and has finished 7th and 12th in the last two years here. Certainly looks capable of another top-5 finish this week.

Don Reese to win 125/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Big price for a player who finished 4th in the Champions Tour Q-School and in the top-10 on his Tour debut at the Turtle Bay Championship. He spent his first year as a Senior on the Sunbelt Senior Tour where he was the leading money winner, winning five times on that Tour and it appears to have kept him competitive for this Tour. No course experience, but the price more than compensates for this.

OUTRIGHTS:

Tom Watson(10/1) e.w. @ Bet365
- - 0-fer-87 or so in Florida has his attention.
http://www.naplesnews.com/npdn/sp_local_golf/article/0,2071,NPDN_14996_3557462,00.html (Registration required)

After that, I've had three plays under consideration for weeks, and instead of being able to pare that down, I've added one to my list. Sometimes you struggle to find something that appeals, other times you see stuff everywhere you look, but even I'm bright enough to know that in the long run, it's hard to come out as well with five plays as it is with no plays. Onward I go.

Wayne Levi(20/1) e.w @ Bet365
- - This play was not originally on my radar. Then I come across this: http://www.naplesnews.com/npdn/sp_local_golf/article/0,2071,NPDN_14996_3554177,00.html (Registration required) I'm more convinced now than I ever was two or so years ago that going back to your old community and among old friends and well-wishers involves a lot of distractions that can often outweigh any benefits; but making a place among your newly planted roots seems a substantially different experience . . . Then along comes Stan and announces that Levi features a lot of what he's looking for in a play . . . I'm in.

Jay Sigel(80/1) e.w. @ Bet365

- - I liked what I saw and heard in Hawaii. Then I came across this regarding off-season arthroscopic surgery: http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/sports/10826581.htm (Registration required) While Florida has never been Sigel country, his best play has always come in streaks.

Dana Quigley(16/1) e.w. @ Bet365

- - Any thoughts of getting off the streak I've been lucky enough to ride were effectively dispelled when I read this:
http://www.naplesnews.com/npdn/sp_local_golf/article/0,2071,NPDN_14996_3545948,00.html (Registration required)
http://www.news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050214/SPORTS/502140391/1075/NEWS01

Andy Bean(66/1) e.w. @ Bet365- - Florida is Bean country, and he's too good not to get more opportunities than that price suggests (125/1 at 5dimes). Then I read this: http://www.naplesnews.com/npdn/sp_local_golf/article/0,2071,NPDN_14996_3557466,00.html (Registration required) Beware the injured golfer, or so they say.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -6.00pts

Levi 7th
Pooley 12th
Reese 18th

They say things happen in threes, so next week should be very profitable! Yesterday, Levi took the lead and immediately double-bogeyed the next hole to disappear down the leaderboard; earlier today, Louis Oosthuizen took sole lead in South Africa in the final round and then his game fell apart; and here, Levi became joint leader with Mark James with just one hole to play and he double-bogeyed the last hole to not just fall out of the lead, but out of the places as well. Not a very good day.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 2-0-0; +4.00pts

Jenkins/Davis WON by 1
Morgan/Doyle WON by 6

Good to get some points on the board. They have been few and far between today.
