BASHING, RANTING,CALLING OUT, ETC.

I hope I don't run afoul of Jack, the mods or anyone else here, but I sort of enjoy some of the banter that goes on here at times. So, I am gonna take a chance and say that..............

Sometimes it is amusing & insightful. Sometimes it is downright funny. At times, emotional. Sometimes it stings. After a tough or boring day, at times it livens you up a bit. Sometimes it is worthwhile to read just to justify to oneself what they have thought all along..........that someone else is indeed the jerk that you thought they were.

Hey, this is an emotional hobby that we choose to partake in. At times, folks need to release some emotions & vent. It is also a pastime that leaves many questions unanswered.

I guess what I am going to say is that it doesn't bother me at all to read it if I choose.........and I even enjoy it sometimes if it is well thought-out &
constructive. Even refreshing at times. I am not warmed up from it at all, though, if someone just comes out and calls someone else an ass (or alot worse) for no other reason than for touting a loser (or 2 or 3 or 4 as Curly (3 Stooges) would say).

So,I wouldn't mind a new Forum exclusively for this sort of thing.............call it constructive criticism, if you will. If you want to ask someone why they don't post their records, do it there. Want to pick games one on one vs someone else to prove your point, do it there. Call out someone who fudges there record? Do it there. Ask someone why they only post yesterday's or the week's results when they are on the plus side (We have a couple of those, here, don't we)? Do it there. Etc., etc.

I know we have the Dumpster, but that is a bit different. The mods wouldn't have to ban as many folks & almost everyone could have their little go-arounds without cluttering up our serious threads. IDEA: Polls could even be set up so that the members could vote one way or another. The really tough and bold could put their posting privileges, or whatever, up for a forum vote!

Ahhhhh........Yes,I guess you guys must have guessed. I have today off an have a few spare minutes.

Now, I really don't think this idea will be implimented, but I wouldn't mind it if it was. I don't think enough people would consider it a step forward as I do. But,the members would have the choice to read & participate or not. I know it would be read and folks would show some interest. If you don't believe that, go and check the number of posts that the threads where "sparring" is involved get. The number is high. Just check this week's.

Just my .02 on a slow day for me.

The problem is most of these guys don't even realize they are doing it. They think its OK as long as they resolve the problem they started in someone else's thread.

Just got to keep it out of the wagering forums.
It really was getting out of hand.

I was thinking about starting a Bashing 101 thread
to teach posters what bashing is all about.

I may try it.

Bashing 101 sounds interesting. And with it's very own thread, no less. The number of posts it would draw would be endless!! All in all, I don't really mind a decent bash if it comes at least semi-constructively........... AND from someone who doesn't make a steady habit of it, just to be seen & heard. Over & over again gets a bit boorish. Also, It is more accepted if it comes from someone who has been around awhile & has shown some integrity in that process.

Personally, I have a sore spot for a particular poster who has been here fora bit, but will only post his record after a winning day or week or month. He'll go 1-3 for the night and not be heard from for another 7-10 days or so and then post his record to be 21-10 for the past week. Where were your other 27 plays, man? They sure weren't posted here.Been goin on for ages. I won't call him out on it until someone else does, but I'm just making a point that almost every one has a gripe about someone/something, me included. Human nature.

Some of the bashers make good points. Alot of folks love this forum but just have 1 or 2 items or folks (out of literally many hundrededs) that bug them somewhat for a legit reason. There's a big difference if you are making a legit point & running with it or just going out & busting someone else's balls........the ballbreakers pretty much expose themselves for what they are. I trust that Bashing 101 would introduce them to the art and 102 would teach them properly.

A seperate forum would keep this out of our important stuff. No one would have to read it if they didn't want. And if you get called out for something, hey, you don't even have to respond. It takes 2 to have a sparring contest. We have seen folks grumble at another numerous times. Once in awhile, the antagonizer realizes he was in error or was mistaken. And humbly apologizes and makes a new friend or two and increases his credibility a bit by doing that. That helps a person grow.......

Like I've mentioned, this is a volatile, emotional, cut-throat and sometimes adrenalin-fueled hobby we have chosen. To make it worse, some dummies bet way over their heads and lose dinner & rent money in the process. A few then have to explain the losses to their spouse. Some others are totally incapable of capping or picking a winner on their own. And others are just plain stupid. However, our members that are included in the above are humans and venting is a natural process for almost anyone.........and at least double that for anyone that possesses any of those characteristics. This pastime draws alot of the less sensible in life, it is the nature of the game. That will never, never change.

So, I understand (not condone) where some of the utter dispalys of ignorance come from............and it sometimes adds to my chuckle...........and appreciate the fact that it is not me.

Let them constructively criticize and/or display to us what fools they are. Either way, I say "Let em go at it" somewhere.
