That's right, I StevieD applaud Dubya and his efforts to get a strong coalition of countries to try to show Iran why it will not be allowed for them to have nuclear weapons. I also applaud him for trying to make peace with our European friends. And I applaud how he has reached out to NATO for help in training Iraqi Police.
Of course, when Kerry and others suggested this it was seen as a sign of weakness. I wonder how my friends on the Right feel about this.
I still think Iraq was a mistake but I am glad to see he is at least trying to make peace with our long time allies.

I've even heard rumors that Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast might get their old names back on Capitol Hill.

Bush is playing nice, shaking hands, slapping backs and everybody is acting like gentlemen, but the reality is that Schroeder, Chirac and others desperately want to see Bush and the U.S. weakened and eventually replaced by the European Union in the court of world affairs. They feel that the era of American dominance is or should be over, and they're eager to help that along as best they can.

In fact ... Schroeder owes his very election to his very public dislike of Bush. He made his feelings on Bush the focus of his re-election campaign. He said what he said and he meant it at the time, so it stands to reason that nothing has changed.

Like France, Germany favored the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein. They don't like it one bit that the U.S., Great Britain and Australia, among others, removed him by force. In fact, records seem to show that the countries most opposed to the invasion were the ones getting the richest off of Saddam's largess.

It makes for nice photo opportunities, but Bush's efforts will provide some photo ops, and little else.

I still say-- Fck France just last week they refused to acknowledge Hezbolah was terrorist group. Chirac only reason for being cordial is he now thinks Bush can help him in Lebenon.

France wouldn't make a pimple on a knats ass in any aspect of world leadership in any area.

What goes around comes around and France will inevitably have to pay the piper on thier own Muslim ralations within their country.
Whether anyone is aware of it or not there has been been large relocation of traditional population in Europe away from now Muslim strong holds--they are now having to deal with their convictions and reality is beginning to set in.

stevie, that must have hurt (lol) ?

i still have no use for europe.

and as dtb stated above......france has refused to declare hezzbolah a terrorist organization.....which would have made it illegal for people or organizations to send funds to hezzbolah.

as far as bush trying to make peace......it should be the other way around......they should try to make peace with the u.s.........

these european countries refused (for their own illegal economic gain) to enforce the international rules of law...by not enforcing the treaty that saddam had signed in the first gulf war.........

"the bunker"
the europeans will lead the way....and we`ll negotiate our way to a peaceful settlement with iran....they`ll honor whatever treaties the euro`s will set up for them...

right?....yeah,right...

it worked with north korea.....right?...by that i mean unverifiable treaties and "carrots"....

worked like a charm...

the sad part is that europe is useless in these affairs....they have absolutely no backbone...other than britain, they are afraid of everything....except criticizing the u.s.....which they don`t have to get off their useless asses to do...that`s why they do it with such brio...

i`m not saying that we should invade every muslim country that doesn`t tow the line....

just saying that without the stick, the carrot is useless...

and the europeans have never had any balls....even when their own asses are on the line.....

these are the s.o.b.`s that supplied saddam with HIS nuclear technology....

useless....iran will get their nukes....and the russians and n.koreans will sell and/or" lose track of "weapons and nuclear technology to bad actors.....

china will continue to let n. korea thumb their nose at the west.....but,that will change in the near future....

it`s only a matter of time before the japanese and s.koreans get their own nuclear weapons...and reinstitute their own armies...they`ll have no choice....then,china will get what they deserve...

we are inching toward an ugly future....what`s galling is that europe can never....ever....see the long term picture.....

who really thinks that the europeans will have any affect on keeping the iranians from acquiring nukes?........they played the same game with saddam....while behind the scenes they undermined the whole process of inspections....and the embargo...

if they had played it straight, the war would never had happened...they were enablers for saddam....

their track record speaks for itself...

look to the past...and you see the future...

Anyone that thinks China is our Buddy will need to bring Nixon back from the grave. Yes history can and does repeat it self. It's funny how that is used some places and just forgot in others. Like discussing S/S.
Europe a small place with 4.3 million folks with a nice economy close to our own. The roots of many Americans come from Europe. Can't blame them for dragging there feet some times. We did that to them a couple of times to. When you look at Iraq Europe sure was not all wrong. Iran will be real test.

All of Europe is as big as us geographically, with a bigger population: Over 700 million compared to less than 300 million Americans.

I tend to agree with weasel. We can't count on others to do what we want - afterall they have what they believe is their best interest, just like us.

It's probably inevitable that a nation like Iran will have nukes of some capacity. Even if Europe worked with us, I doubt we can keep Iran nuke-less forever. We kind of already showed our hand that we've all but ruled out military action against Iran. It would take some blatant actions by them to get us actually thinking invasion or strikes IMO.

Europe has never, and will never, act as one homogenous unit. France & Germany dominate but there is great dissention within most of the other nation states.

Britain will always stand separately.

So Cal
DJV - when you say we dragged our feet a couple of times are you referring to WW1 and WW11? Do you think we dragged our feet before going over to their soil to save their asses? Hopefully I misinterpreted you.

DTB - I totally agree that France will rue the day they supported any form of Muslim extremists. Muslims are fast moving into Europe and especially France. Will be interesting to see what happens. Hopefully the Muslims exiting the Middle East for Europe are doing so because of their dislike for the extremists.
