Now that football is winding down I'm starting to do some homework for the win totals, and I think that there are usually a few soft numbers to be found each year if you do your homework on them. Just wondering if we now when they'll be made available.

Thanks Hogman. I'm looking for the win totals, ie Mets over 85 wins this year, Blue Jays under 75, stuff like that.

I know that the DBacks @55-1 might look good, but honestly I think I'll let you throw me off the Brooklyn Bridge if they win the World Series next season. Might have some value in that number but I just don't see it happening.

Sure like the Giants over 85. Took them over last year which hit (I think it was around the same number). This team will be happy with nothing short of the playoffs and they have the talent to do it. Health may be the biggest factor and their age is on everyone's minds but I think they get it done.

Still looking at whether to take them to win the West or not.

Am a Giants fan out here on the east coast. Wondering why you are going OVER 85 wins? Looks like it could be another mediocre year, and the Dodgers certainly looks like they outdid them in terms of offseason moves...am very interested in your input.

95.5 Redsox UNDER. Here's a team that has the firepower to win 100+, but what about the pitching?
Projected starters:
1. Schilling: Ankle still ?
2. Boomer Wells...been making some noise in the off season, but the proof will be how he delivers this year. 12-8 LY, 3.78 ERA
3. Matt Clement. Will the move to the AL prove costly? Will he be under control?
4. Tim Wakefield. Ageless, has been very consistent past few years.
5. Wade Miller? injuries?

Hogman, I see this Giants team undervalued every year. This team has not been picked to win the West in 8 years yet is right there just about every year. See it no different this year. They would've won 95-100 games last year if they had Benitez closing last year. They still won 91 games despite being 3rd to last in blown saves. The staff remains about the same except for the additions of Benitez and a healthy Jesse Foppert.

The offense scored 5 less runs than St Louis who led the league. Don't see any drop off on the offensive end with the addition of Alou behind Bonds. This team is very deep.

Basically, I think everyone puts too much emphasis on their age but I think this team is very well balanced and will again be right there in the thick of the NL West.

As for the Dodgers, they spent the money, but you never know how healthy Drew will stay and who is going to make up for Beltre's MVP type season which carried the Dodgers thru certain stretches last year.

We shall see.

3 points about my pick.

A. I am a big time homer.
B. I am not putting my house on it.
C. I THINK WE WIN THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

gl.

p.s. Hogman, luv your Boston under, gotta get a bit of that action for sure.

Addidas,

Your points are very well taken. I am going to look much further into this, but I definitely am leaning on it now. Think Bonds will really want to shut the critics up, and he always makes everyone around him better. I mean the reason he's won the last 39 MVPs, I think, is because he has won so many games with so many mediocre teams.

GL

Looks like the Sox are focused offensively, especially w/the addition of Renteria, could be a lot of high scoring games this year, especially with my projected pitching inconsistencies.

I don't bet these seasonal totals but have to admit that Boston under sure looks solid. My opinion is Milwaukee over is the strongest play. As the Giants play, to me the top 3 teams in the NL West SD, LA and SF could go anywhere from 95 to 81 wins. So many variables. Giants have a closer now but can you count on Schmidt's arm for over 220 innings? Was Tomko's half season surge just a mirage? Can Jerome Williams take a step foward? Is Woody finished? Will Barry finally hit the wall? If everyone is healthy offense will be solid because even a Barry at 80% of last years performance just makes the entire team better. However, with Barry, Alou and Grissom out there the AARP outfield will be the worst in the majors in range so better keep the ball low. Like I said 81 to 95 wins. I wouldn't touch that play myself.

JT - That is a lot of questions that will be answered but even with all that you have 81-95 wins which would still give us the advantage based on the number being 85.

I would say, Schmidt gets 200 innings +, Tomko will have a similar year numbers wise and should be better at home this year where his career numbers were always better until last year. Jerome will be better after a very committed offseason workout program, Woody might be the biggest ?, but he has never been much more than a guy that keeps you in games and eats up some innings. Barry I think remains to be Barry, at least for another year or two.

What else did you expect from a homer? The worst kind of homer too.

gl all. Now looking at Milwaukee over too. Thanks for that tip.
