EMU +10.5 over Akron: Too much chalk to lay for Buffalo and Kent St. and BG/Ball St. is too close for me to call. But, I agree with Spang and gman and like Eastern Michigan getting 10.5 against Akron. The Zips have overachieved this year and will have a hard time covering double-digits against the Eagles who are very talented. Buffalo pounded them on the boards and the Eagles should do the same. Over the past five games EMU has slowed the game down and pounded the ball inside (which they should have been doing all year) and its starting to pay off. They are getting to the foul line and getting some easy baskets. Coach Boone is fighting for his job and needs a win or two to keep it. As long as they can stay motivated after the tough double OT loss to Toledo on Saturday, they should cover the 10.5 points. There are still some 11's out there but they are going fast.
EMU/Akron under 139: This total keeps creeping up and may hit 140 by gametime. Neither of these teams have been running as much lately. EMU has not gone over this total in 5 games (except for the double OT against Toledo) and Akron has been under this total in 4 of the last 6 (one of the overs was against Niagra who won't allow you to stay under). Neither team is shooting the ball particulary well right now, either. gman mentioned mentioned EMU's tendency to foul which may inflate the score and I agree. But I don't know that this game will be close enough at the end to turn it into a free throw contest.
