Do you think a win tonight would seal up a bid for them? if so, i think they have a great shot tonight to cover and win outright...nc st has yet to beat one of the "big three" in the conference although they did beat MD and G Tech twice already this year and have won 4 of their last 5...i cant see any reason not to take them especially the way the dogs have come out to play today, i smell another upset

WVU has double digit road victories at LSU and AT NC STATE.

I would certainly say that if they beat wake, they go in

Lots of ACC bias to begin with and a win against a top 5 team should secure a spot. I am looking at them big, but worry about Williams and Paul mismatch. It certainly seems odd the line is dropping, when most people have Wake. Today has been really weird.

ACC bias?? the best team in the acc went into connecticut, argueably the best team in a conference that is supposedly sending 7 to the dance, and beat up on them...i still think the acc is the strongest conference, there are no true cupcakes like st johns, rutgers, seton hall and providence in the big east or the big ten where half the teams are an absolute joke

ADOT-

You mean the St. Johns that beat NC State and Virginia and gave your best team DUKE a run for their money?

Dude, UNC did beat UConn without UConn best player.

I want you to look at Miami and Virginia Tech....Look what they did in the Big East ( I don't think Tech ever made it to Madison Square Garden for the tourney.)...now look at Tech...they are a bubble team.

I believe Providence beat UVA too....think before you post.

If State wins, they are in. ACC is best conference this year, but there are some weak and mediocre teams as well. Teams like Virginia and Clemson and Fla. State are pretty bad.
Conference upsets can happen b/c teams know each other so well and also play most teams twice. Upsets are bound to happen.
Anyone that finishes 8-8 in the ACC this year gets in. I'm not saying they deserve it and I'm not saying they don't deserve it. I'm just saying what will happen.
On another note, personally, I think that if you finish below .500 in your conference that you should be ineligible for the tourney.
I love the tournament, but at the same time, aren't we trying to find the best team in the nation. Why does a team that goes 8-8 deserve to have a chance to be the champion.
Overall, I just hate when bubble teams bitch about not getting in. You are talking about the national championship. Even after a mediocre year, you still have a chance in your conf. tourney and a chance to be an at-large team. If you don't get it done, its not the committee's fault, it is yours.
Ok, let me jump down from this soap box without hurting myself.

Imagine that...a guy from NC thinking ACC is the best. Thats something new.

What are you guys going to claim next year when Big East adds Cincy, Louisville, Depaul and marquette?

I was saying that ACC is best this year. Yes, I am definitely biased. But, I think most people would say that ACC is best this year.
3 teams in Top 6 going into the last weekend of play.
The main thing I was saying is that, regardless of which conference is best, 8-8 in the ACC gets you in the big dance this year.
Wasn't trying to take anything away from Big East or any other conference.

Wilson, that goes to show how thick your head is and what little knowledge you have of the game...u take away anderson, who is supposedely the best player on the team, and UConn magically has gone on a tear...if you took away villanueva, boone or m williams they would not be able to do what theyre doing now and everyone knows that..just because someone is the leading scorer doesn't mean theyre the best player- thats something a casual fan would say...so according to wilson, justin grey is the best player on wake forest
think before u talk pal

Paul is suspended the first game.

I still don't trust NC State with the points
with my money against Wake.

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest University sophomore guard Chris Paul will not play in Friday's ACC Tournament quarterfinal game because of his involvement in an altercation during Sunday's game at NC State, athletic director Ron Wellman and head basketball coach Skip Prosser announced today.

Paul, a candidate for the Wooden Award, the Naismith Trophy, the Rupp Trophy and the Cousy Award, has played in all 61 games of his two-year career. Paul averages 14.9 points, 6.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. In just two years, Paul already ranks among Wake Forest's all-time leaders in assists and steals.

Paul will be eligible to practice with the team when the Demon Deacons return to the court on Tuesday. Paul will return to game action following Friday night's contest.

Wake Forest, the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament, will play either NC State or Florida State Friday night at 7 pm.

Statement From Athletic Director Ron Wellman
"Chris Paul is an excellent representative of our program and he has been for two years. However, the incident last night is not something that Wake Forest condones, and neither does Chris Paul. It is an incident for which he is extremely sorry. We are proud of Chris and we are convinced that his future behavior will reflect the outstanding individual that he is.

"This is not an easy decision to make because of the type of individual we are dealing with. After consulting with (ACC Commissioner) John Swofford, we believe it is the right thing to do for Chris Paul, Wake Forest and the ACC."

Statement From Head Coach Skip Prosser
"I have said for two years that I would not trade Chris Paul for any point guard in the country. This remains the case. The game of basketball is best played in a certain manner. Chris committed a grave error in judgment Sunday evening. He is contrite and aware that his actions did not reflect the best of Wake Forest and our basketball team. This disciplinary action speaks on our intention to hold our players to the highest standards of sportsmanship and proper conduct.

"At this time we turn our attention to improving our team and preparing for the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. I will have no future comment about this decision."

Statement From Sophomore Guard Chris Paul
"I would like to apologize to Julius Hodge, the NC State team, Wake Forest fans and my teammates for an incident that I truly regret. Sunday night was emotional for me for many reasons and I let my emotions get the best of me. However, that is no excuse for my actions and I fully accept and agree with my suspension."

For everyone that keeps saying the ACC is better at the top, I point to the fact that the last two National Champions have come from the Big East.

Will admit that the top dogs this year are not on the level of UNC though.

I'm very interested to see how this Big East superconference shapes out. In my opinion it will only be a two or three year thing, since there is already rumblings of a Catholic school conference that will break away from the Big East (St. John's, Seton Hall, ND, GTown, Villanova, Providence -- all the teams that do not take part in Big East football). Personally think this westward expansion will eat up some of the smaller schools, I don't see a place like Seton Hall being very happy about having to fly the womens swim team out to Marquette for a weekend meet. I realize the conference had to do it to help football but the logistics of it all will reak havoc on the budgets of some of these non state schools.
