marquette (-2) over wmu
i always want to see the mac do well whenever they get some national tv exposure, but im not counting on a good showing from wmu tonight, even against a deiner-less marquette team. on paper, the matchup isnt all that bad for the broncos; they have the size inside to compete and reed is capable of getting hot and going for 20. but this team regressed as the season went on. they pretty much won the mac west by defeault and backed into a mac tourney bye because the western division was so mediocre this year. wmu started the season 13-3, but finished the season just 6-9 (including 1-6 in their final 7 road games). broncos scheduling isnt all that favorable either. played an overtime game against akron thursday, then blew a 2nd half lead friday night in the 9:30 game and now are back on the road 2 days later to play in the opening round of the nit. marquette is no prize, but they still outclassed toledo in this exact spot last year (monday nit game on espn) and even sans deiner, theyll do it to wmu. even if the eagles are playin in a half-empty arena, i still dont see wmich sneaking out with a win. broncos are just a lame road team and (if its possible) theyre really undeserving of this nit berth. akron or toledo would have been much better choices to receive these nit bids, and both would have given marquette better games than wmu in my opinion.
