Outright plays (total stake per play: 2pts)

D.A. Weibring to win 14/1 e.w. @ BetInternet and GolfingGods
Had a putt on the last green on Sunday to force a playoff, but it lipped out. However, he can put that right this week on a course on which he finished 6th last year. His record in California is very impressive with finishes of 6th, 5th, 7th and 2nd in the last twelve months and with eight top-10 finishes in his last twelve starts, he is clearly a player who should, once again, be there or thereabouts on Sunday evening.

Wayne Levi to win 16/1 e.w. @ SkyBet
Levi is another in a rich vein of form that has carried over from last season. Since September 2004, he has played in ten tournaments, finished in the top-20 every time, winning once and finishing in the top-5 four times. Even after a disastrous opening 76 last week, he shot 68 in the 2nd round to give himself a chance of a top-5 finish and so on a course on which he has finished in the top-12 on all three previous appearances, he is another player who should feature this week.

Morris Hatalsky to win 25/1 e.w. @ BetInternet
With five top-10 finishes in his last eight starts, Hatalsky is another who is expected to feature each week. He finished 2nd in very unfortunate circumstances in the rain-shortened Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am three weeks ago and was 2nd in this event last year, so will be very keen to convert his chances this week. Last year, he had tied Purtzer for the 36-hole lead, but despite shooting 68 in the final round, it was one stroke too many. These looks decent odds for a player with such a decent history.

Matchup plays (2pts):

Bruce Fleisher to beat Allen Doyle -110 @ SkyBet and BetFred
Doyle does have a good history in this event, but it was only from 2000 to 2003 that he finished ahead of Fleisher. Last year, he finished 36th and eight shots behind his opponent. And current form does not suggest that Doyle should win - he has finished ahead of Fleisher only once in five common events this year and that sole win was by a single shot in the Turtle Bay Championship. A couple of years ago, this would have been an even match, but not at the moment.

Tom Purtzer to beat Larry Nelson -114 @ Expekt
Two players who tend to carry more than their fair share of injuries and will have been affected by the scrapping of carts on most Champions Tour events this season. Purtzer's back troubles and lack of cart provision may be one reason why he has yet to play at his best this season, but he has still finished ahead of Nelson in two out of three common events this season and is the defending champion. Nelson's form on this course was very impressive until last year, but at the age of 57 he should be the player whose competitiveness should decline more permanently as a result of the Tour's new cart policy.
(also available at SkyBet)

May post more plays later when Five Dimes finally release their matchups.

OUTRIGHTS:

Morris Hatalsky(18/1)(1/4 for1-2-3-4) e.w. @ Bet365
- - A temporary reprieve. 20/1 before the event, now 18/1 after a bad weather 67. I'm open for business, and Hatalsky should be much the same.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 1-2; -1.00pts

Weibring 28th
Levi 2nd
Hatalsky 8th

Just can't get that breakout week on this Tour this year. Hatalsky just couldn't quite close the gap on the top-4 places and finished two shots short, while it was the same story with Levi. He got within two shots of Johnson with three holes to play, but no closer in the final round.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 1-1-0; -0.20pts

Fleisher/Doyle LOST by 1
Purtzer/Nelson WON by 9

Split the plays, but really looked like a sweep until Fleisher played the last four holes - a stretch that includes two par-fives - in one-over-par. He'd been five-under-par for the previous 14 holes.
