Last nite watching Bucknell and Vermont knock off the Cuse and Kansas is what the this "game" is all about.Can you imagine what Brennen and Flannery are going through right now after coaching their teams last nite.Can you imagine what the players and student bodies are doing today.
And how about some American East and Patriot conferences teams celebrating there conf wins over the Big East and Big 12.
And how about schools like Lehigh,Navy,Holy Cross,St Francis.Pa,Maine,and Boston U.They can say we beat Vermont or Bucknell.And what are the kids at American U saying this morning.
"we beat both Vermont and Bucknell".
Many will say these two games last nite were big upsets.And they were to some degree.But in a way they were not.Vermont with Sorrentine and Coppenrath were a force to be reckoned with.Jimmy Boe did not take them lightly.Maybe some of his players did but if you watched the game, the Catamonts were a well coached team.They broke down the zone,caused 24 turnovers and had a supernite performous from a guy named Mopa Njila.
Cuse had its weakness's with no true pt gd and post player.And Brennon attacked it.
Bucknell's McNaughton hit that baby jump hook with under 10 seconds.Everyone I think had those thoughts about Dukes Latenaer when Simien caught the ball and took the shot.But guys like Bettencourt and Lee also had to be dealt with by Kansas.And in the end they couldn't.Again many will say its a upset.But again it was and it wasn't.
Last nite we got to see some 13th and 14th seeded teams knock off some giants that many thought could make the final four.Two teams that were well coached and earned there wins with teamwork and determination.
Neither team believed they were better then Cuse and Kansas,but believed they were just as good.
And that is the most importment thing in basketball games or life."No better,but just as good".
And last nite many of us got a glimpse of that.
Who knows what will happen in the next round.
The term Cinderrella story will be attached to these two games last nite.But in the Disney movie there is a line that holds true to last night.
"if you keep believing,the dreams that you wish come true". Cinderella
