Illini blowing 22 pt lead

got hooked on the over because the awesome backcourt trio of Head, Williams, and Brown can't make their FT's.....Illinois is probably the biggest joke of a #1 seed I can remember in quite some years......they are a horrible offensive team!!

just wondering if you put any thought into what you say or you just feel the need to vent, but your statement is utterly ridiculous.
illinois shot 17/20 from the free throw line tonight. That's 85% and I guarantee its a better number than any other team in the tourney with that number of attempts.
they average over 77 points a game and that includes all big 10 play which is perrenialy a lower scoring league.
They smoked Wake, beat Gonzaga (albeit overrated, beat cincinatti, wisconsin 3 times, michigan st the only time they played all tourney teams. They went 33-1 this season losing in the closing seconds on a 3 with 8 seconds left on the road at ohio st. playing in their final game on senior day with no chance of a postseason.
If they truly are an undeserving number one seed, then lets give all the teams with no losses a one seed. ok, now we have no tournament. how about just one loss, now we have a tourney of one (illinois). how about teams with 2 losses, nope still just one in this tourney. how about 3 losses, nope, still illinois only. you get the picture.
are they the best team. maybe, maybe not. but for you to say they are the biggest joke of a #1 seed ever then you obviously were talking out your rear or don't know anything about college basketball.

In all honesty, BleedDodgerBlue, I was just venting a little....I've watched this Illinois team a lot this year and they are playing like chit right now....not up to what they are capable of for sure. They are shooting terrible from field.....Dee Brown was 0-4 tonight and the big "3" were a combined 9-22....I know they shot 17-20 from the line, but those 3 misses were in the last 55 seconds when the game and total were on the line....and one was a front end, so that really counts as a double miss in my book.....hence the venting yes? Obviously, they are worthy of their #1 seed and they may come out Thursday night hitting on all cylinders....we'll see.....didn't mean to ruffle your feathers!! except for jzpink....I work in Illinois and I have to listen to all of these hard-ons like him talk all week about how this is the greatest team in the history of the NCAA.....sure it is!! :mj07:

Illinois also has Augustine who is playing VERY well right now. That means Illinois NOW has 4 guys (superstars) teams have to try and stop. They don't need everybody clicking to win. Brown only shot the ball 4 times tonight. That tells you something. HE IS A TEAM PLAYER and doesn't care about stats. 2 nights ago Brown shot 7-10 and scored 19pts. Tonight Nevada tried to take away the outside game of Illinois and Illinois hurt them inside with Augustine and Ingram. That is playing smart basketball. This is a TEAM!
Augustine shot 9-11 and scored 23pts.
Ingram shot 6-7 and scored 12pts.
Those are some pretty sick numbers. You focus your attention on the 3 guards of Illinois but not the great performance from the big men? WHY? Don't you feel silly.
ILLINOIS CAN BEAT YOU MANY WAYS AND THEY ARE NOT A SELFISH TEAM! That is why they are picked by many to win it all. Guard play is crucial in the tournament and they have 3 superstar guards. Now they have the emergence of Augustine down low who is on a terror. But you don't give him credit?

Yes, Augustine and Ingram played very well.....but the fact still remains that the rest of the team isn't playing well right now....they aren't shooting well....they shot 53% tonight but those #'s were skewed greatly by Augustine and Ingram going a combined 15-18.....rest of the team was 11-31......2-12 from deep.....not good!! I wouldn't bank on those 2 carrying this team the rest of the way. I guess you miss the point. Nevada's gameplan was to take away the outside game of Illinois. SO that is why Illinois dominated inside. You can't take away both INSIDE and OUTSIDE game of Illinois.
Do you expect all 3 guards to score 20+ pts per game?
The 3 superstar guard trio are BROWN, HEAD, and WILLIAMS.

Brown shot 0-4
Head and Williams had good shooting % and both hit their season averages. Brown only shot ball 4 times and scored 17pts below his average. Powell shot 2-7 scoring 5pts when he averages 12ppg. Yet Illinois found a way to win by double digits with Powell and Brown scoring 50%+ below their season averages. That is impressive! Not ammo to put a team down.
The guard trio doesn't need too put up MONSTER STATS when a team tries to take their game away. Tonight Illinois didn't need Brown to score 19pts.
If teams continue to try and take away the 3 guards, Illinois will continue to feed Augustine and Ingram. This is a smart and unselfish team. You don't see that often in college hoops. A team who TAKES what the defense gives them. Thats something special. Too many times you see college teams play selfish or don't stick to a solid gameplan. As you can see, I really like this Illinois team and people bash or put them dowm for all the wrong reasons.
I am going on a limb here, but if Augustine or Ingram did not step up, I am sure Brown would have taken more than 4 shots. Brown did shoot 7-10 in his last game.

You made my morning. To know that there is someone out there taking the time to research the Illini got 3rd in the 40's and 50's makes me feel better about myself. Maybe I have a little more of a life than I thought. Concerning your "hard ons" from Illinois that you work with, I feel for them because they are probably just sick and tired of hearing about a once great football program at Notre Dame and a once great basketball program at IU. MCity, keep living in the past, I think that is probably what your 2 college sports teams are doing. :mj12:
