They just announced MIKE DAVIS is going nowhere. The tulane talk is all bs and as a matter of fact Mike is going to be getting his $300k bonus.

Just wanted to pass this on, didn't say it was good news. :cursin: :cursin:

He is prob. just staying because bob knight blasted him and IU on the radio last nite... :mj07:

as an IU grad, I kind of have mixed feelings about this. I'm willing to give Davis one more year given the fact we had the #3 recruited class this past year....DJ White, Robert Vaden, AJ Ratliff, and James Hardy all played a lot of minutes and gained a ton of experience. Our recruiting class this year is really good so we have some kids coming in that may be able to help immediately....we also have Marco Killingsworth and Lewis Monroe (any Auburn fans out there remember these two) who transfered in after the Auburn fiasco a couple of years back....plus we lose nobody significant to graduation. This on paper will be IU's deepest team in a long long time....there are no more excuses about no talent....being too young....none of that will fly. If Davis doesn't do serious damage with this group next year, it will definitely show his coaching skills to be much lacking and he will be gone. He is a good man and I hope he succeeds, watching the tourney without my hoosiers is not fun. :cursin:

yeah, we add Killingsworth who they say looks like a man amongst boys during practice....he is 6'9 260!! :scared We have a kid coming in from Australia....Ben Allen who is 6'11" and supposedly an impact freshman.....add those two with DJ White the big ten frosh of the year and that is a very big and very athletic front line. Lewis Monroe the other transfer from auburn may be what this IU team has truly lacked the last couple of years.....a true point guard. Marshall Strickland is a shooting guard playing the point.....he is not good there....Monroe may really be the key addition to this team. IU will run 12 deep next year....they should be scary good.....if Davis mucks this up he will truly be exposed as a bad coach....next year shall tell. :mj14:

Bob Knight is just riding his typical high right now that is in the sweet 16, he does this every time he get in their runs his mouth til he gets knocked out then u won't hear anymore about it. He is a Media Hound. Oprah ought to give a talk show right before Dr Phil, so u can recooperate after his show.. :mj07: :mj07:

CTG, im sure ur right, hes a strange, quixotic man, try reading his last book, i mean some good stuff, tons of fluff, but not once does he ever admit he messed up on his major issues; just like coach K, hmmm didnt they hang out at one time somewhere? wonder if the other waited for the other to call and congratulate themselves this weekend?

funny how that ****sucker waited until his team is doing something and IU is struggling to mention this to the media.....it has been 5 years bobby boy....why didn't you mention any of this when texas tech was missing the tourney or your team was chitting the bed? Once again bobby shows his true colors......takes a real classy individual and classy coach to talk bad about another coach, especially when they are down!! I don't think I could mention another coach in the country that would do this to one of his ex-assistants or in this case a head coach. This was a calculated move and he should be called out by the media and other coaches for this bushleague crap.....coaches are usually very supportive toward one another in the media even if they don't think the other guy is doing well because they all know it can change in an instant for all of them......one year you're on top and a bad year or two and you're head is on the block. Bobby's weak, plain and simple!! ;142loser:

I thought Davis would have been gone 2 years ago. I can't believe a program like Indiana has to settle for a coach this seemingly inept.

Is Davis the right man for the job....I don't know right now but I will for sure at this time next year. As far as him being gone two years ago, that wouldn't have been fair. He took IU to the title game in 2002 with a team full of upperclassmen and a super soph. by the name of jarred jeffries. After that season, he went after a couple of really high profile recruits and lost out on them.....he kind of put all of his eggs in a couple of baskets...banking on these 2-3 high profile kids coming to IU...well when they didn't, we weren't left with a whole lot. Jeffries turned pro...we had Coverdale, Kline, big Leach, and a couple of freshman in Bracey wright and marshall strickland....that team was dismal from a talent standpoint.....but still managed to make the tourney. Last year we lost our only decent big guy in Leach.....Kline got hurt and we had no size at all on the front line....if you remember a guy named AJ Moye.....he was playing power forward and center for us most of the year and he was only 6'3"....that isn't going to get it done and to say we struggled was an understatement. This year IU had a 3 frosh who started a lot of games....but IU was still weak inside....DJ White was are only true post threat......that all changes next year, Killingsworth, White, Allen, along with Vaden, Hardy and Ewing off of the bench give IU a big, athletic, and deep frontcourt. The backcourt of Monroe, Wright, Strickland, Wilmont, Ratliff, and a kid named Joey Shaw...a recruit from somewhere out west (supposed to be a big time shooting guard) will give IU the same in the backcourt. Like I said, IU will run 12 deep next year....9 of those 12 will have had 1-3 years of major college experience....if he can't win next year, then we'll know he is wrong for the job....but to say it now I think would be a bit premature. :mj14:
