Does anyone know the highest seeded team to make a Final Four? I believe Michigan was a 9 seed during the Fab Five days even though that technically doesn't count now since they had to forfeit those games.

Wouldn't NC State be the highest as a 10 seed?

The tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. Penn made the final 4 in 1979 but there were only 40 teams in the tournament back then. Penn was a 9 seed in 1979 the first year they actually seeded teams.

So. Cal
it was lsu as an 11 back in 86

mich never made it as a 9 seed...they were a 6 seed when they made it in 92 (would have played arizona in round 2 that year...but #14 seed east tenn state was in the way)

after that, i believe wisc was an 8 seed in 00
