N.C. STATE vs. WISCONSIN

N.C. State has won eight of its last 11 and covered 10 of its last 12 following last Sunday?s 65-62 second-round upset of Connecticut.

The 10 th-seeded Wolfpack are 4-2 against the number in neutral court games this year. They?ve won and covered three of five NCAA Tournament contests the last three seasons.

N.C State is 48-27 versus the spread against teams with winning records over the past three years. But it?s on a 12-17 spread slide in non-conference games in that span.

The Wolfpack have stayed under in eight of their last 13 non-conference affairs and in 12 of their last 20 when laying points.

Wisconsin has won seven of its last eight, but covered for only the second time in its last seven games with Sunday?s 71-62 win over Bucknell.

The sixth-seeded Badgers are on non-conference spread runs of 8-5 this season and 24-14 the last three seasons. However, they?re only 10-13 versus the number against teams with winning records this year.

Wisconsin is 5-2 straight-up and 4-3 versus the spread in NCAA Tournament games the last three seasons.

The Badgers have stayed under in seven of their last eight overall, and nine of 13 non-conference games this season, including four of five neutral court games.

VILLANOVA vs. NORTH CAROLINA
Villanova has won 10 of its last 11 and cashed the Vegas ticket in eight of its last 10 following Sunday?s 11-point blowout of Florida.

The fifth-seeded Wildcats are on spread runs this year of 6-3 in non-conference games and 13-7 versus teams with winning records. Over the last three years, they?ve covered 23 of 35 as a dog and 20 of 31 in non-conference affairs.

Villanova has sailed over in six of its last nine overall and in four of five as a dog this year. However, it?s stayed under in five of seven neutral court games this season.

Forward Curtis Sumpter, who averages a team-leading 15.3 points and 7.2 rebounds, is out after suffering a season-ending knee injury in Sunday?s victory against the Gators.

North Carolina has won 10 of its last 11 and scored the spread win in two straight with last Sunday?s 27-point romp against Iowa State. It had failed to cover in five consecutive prior to that blowout.

The top-seeded and second-ranked Tar Heels are 19-13 versus the number this season, all as a favorite. They?re also on spread runs this year of 9-5 in non-conference games and 5-3 in neutral court tilts.

North Carolina is 11-6 against the number in NCAA Tournament games since 1997.

The Tar Heels have sailed over the total in three of their last four overall, five of seven neutral court games, and nine of 13 non-conference contests this season.

In the past the Wildcats have certainly had the Utes' number, and they may have enough to get by tonight, but this one is going to be a nail-biter.

Utah owns the best player on the court in Andrew Bogut, and you can expect Tubby Smith to use his depth to try and hold him at bay. Easier said than done. The Wildcats are not a blowout-type team, as a 70-point performance would be considered a huge explosion.

The Utes have been banging home just enough from behind the arc to keep themselves in contention. Marc Jackson's range has been spot-on thus far, and there is no reason to believe he won't drain just enough 3-balls to keep the inside free for Bogut.

This game should go right down to the wire. I am taking Utah plus the points.
