have a feeling a handful will be hammering carolina in the 2nd half after their slow start.

but really think villanova hangs on to this lead and takes it to the wire.

theyre playing the game at their pace, theyre frustrating the heels with their defense.

gimmie villanova for a small amount in the 2nd to add to my game bet

havent seen a lic of the game but im guessing if nova can stay close, and set tempo, Unles roy comes out pressing every inch, thennova will struggle to score 35 ...

not touching it, will root for nc to least advance tho .. funny last 2 teams i have left are illini and nc for title and they could both fail to reach final 4 easily ...

neither has been tested yet, until tonight for NC and they are flunking

illini better bring good shoes tomorrow, lute could clip them

you're right, UNC is getting pounded second half.

What about the Uk/Utah game? I guess UK fans are the only ones not suprised that Orbzut and Alleyne can play. Utah can still cover, but I have to think they are tired and UK's starters are fresh as daisies.

I took NC -8 -121 2h.

Villanova on fire, NC not, yet NC only down by 4. UNC also had run at end of 1h. All good signs.

Villanova in rounds 1 and 2 shot ball very well 1h and in both games shot ball poorly 2h. Why won't it happen again? Especially against UNC and without Sumpter.

Then to top it all off, Villanova has multiple players with 2 fouls. Not good for a team that isn't deep.

UNC wins the game by 7+pts IMO.

IMO Carolina will either lose outright or cover the game line. Carolina shot poorly, but this looks like the typical way Roy would lose in the tourney at KU. Let the opponent control tempo, make no real changes figuring they will snap out of it, etc.

But it seems to me that if Carolina ever gets the lead Nova will see the writing on the wall and be done.

Took the $70 i won on AZ last night and put it on UNC.

kentucky certainly controlled the 1h. its their game to lose. bogut is having some trouble. not a whole lot of pace to that game with all the fouls.

as far as nova goes, yep - carolina getting pounded. not trying to go anti-public. but simply looking at the game objectively. why the hell cant nova hang on to win? they were up a small margin on kansas and smashed them in the 2nd half. carolina just looks 'off' and frustrated. can they flip the switch?

gman2 nice call on Nova for game and 2h. Although I think I should have won UNC 2h bet. :cursin:

As for UNC and my future, I think this game was the best thing possible for UNC. I was sweating bullets but this prepares them for winning it all. After knowing UNC came out on top, I am happy Nova gave UNC all they can handle. I think I will be laying a futures bet on Nova to win it all next year! Good looking team!

agree that this game will help carolina. but wisconsin on the moneyline will definitely be a play for me. they are the kind of team that can REALLY frustrate carolina. heels will learn from this. but they are in a bad setup. if they had this on saturday (and then had a week to prepare for wisky), theyd be in better shape and id stay away from wisconsin. but only 48 hours for carolina to get ready for a disciplined wisky team. no reason that game shouldnt stay within 4 or 6 the entire way.

If UNC plays like this on Sun. then UNC will have another close game against Wiscy and prob. lose. But will Wiscy have a player shoot lights out? Remember, Nova played great and UNC played below average. Most teams lose if that happens. Wiscy will prob. have to play great and UNC prob. would have to have another off night for Wiscy to win. Illinois didn't have much trouble beating Wiscy and ILL. wasn't playing lights out basketball.

This UNC team doesn't have a tough road to the finals. They might be in for a surprise if they are fortunate enough to make it to the finals.

Illinois, UL, AZ, and WVU have much more brutal road.

Its all setting up nicely for UNC and how often do teams who win it all have at least one close game.

what are you talking about 'nova play great' and carolina played 'below average'. nova played how theyve been playing all year. balls out. even so, cats only shot 37% and were 12 of 19 from the line. meanwhile, carolina shot 41%, knocked down 8 threes (as did nova) and were 19 of 24 from the line. youre kidding yourself if you think nova played over its head and carolina played a terrible game. those carolina numbers are about consistent with their averages on the season. it was a case of two good teams going at it, and carolina struggles when teams dont let them run.

Nova shot 36%. 28% on 3's. 63% fts. Outrebounded by DD. Carolina's numbers were better in every category. Only you could twist that into Nova played lights out and try to blindly justify your mantra.

Even if this team were up 20 w/ 5 mins left in the Champ game they would not be a lock. They are all missing that certain something, the intangible winning teams have. They won tonight because they held on....they did nothing in the end to show will to win really IMO, they played scared the entire game. That's the deal w/ this team, when they are on they are the best team in the country, but they are also the most unpredictable team in the country as well. There is no rhyme or reason as to when they will show up and when they won't.

Saint - not to beat the deadhorse but it is the guy on the sidelines. It is JUST like MAck Brown in football - he instills that in them. This team however may have so much talent and the field so diluted that they can overcome.

I can honestly say I don't agree, but I don't disagree. I'll need a few more years under my belt with him, you got a good look at him at KU all those years. It's hard to figure out...it could be Roy, it also could be the fact that this team is made up of "losers"...their entire careers at UNC were made up of losing. But as we agreed before, I realize already Roys inability to show flexibility. Although I must say when the went to the 1- zone it seemed to throw Nova off, in hindsight would you agree it was a nice move on roys part.
