All they basically had to do is get the ball in bounds and they would have shot ft's the rest of the game but instead they just kept turning the ball over.......Dont think I have seen a team blow an 8 point lead with a minute remaining in a long long time........

i still have pitinos game at LSU when he brought KY back down 35 with about 14 mins left--i show it to my teams sometimes--unreal ..

feel badly for Zona, played a great game and copllapsed, Salim went from hero to near zero--awesome player obviously, just hate seeing anyone lose either one fo the games today ... WV deserved a better fate, never tralied until OT, other than maybe opening minutes ...

I know it sound ridiculous(and it would never happen) but you wonder sometimes if the team ahead should just start fouling and giving the other team free throws rather than letting them consistantly shoot 3 after 3 and getting back into the game.........without the 3's after the 3 minute mark you wonder if there was enough time for Louisville or Illinois to come back and tie.......

I think you have to give "some" credit to the lockdown defense of Illinois. Everyone knew coming in Illinois is a great defensive team especially on the perimeter. So inbounding the ball or bringing up the court is no easy task.

Yea you would think they would do that, but I think coaches would hate to have team score with no time running at all. Still though, Illinois wasn't shooting great from the FT line either. tough call.

It sorta is playing "NOT TO LOSE" vs "PLAYING TO WIN."

What if they make 1, miss 2nd but get rebound and drain a 3. Then you give up 4pts. You know that isn't a longshot probability. Didn't Nova against UNC miss free throw at end and got rebound?

Then again, if you have SALIM or a REDDICK on your team, then that might not be a bad strategy. But you still have to inbound the ball AND that obviously wan't an easy thing to do against Illinois.

tough to foul them and let them score with no time running. Arizona should have been playing to win. Like Luther Head said, they were looking really tired near the end.
