UNC vs ILLINOIS National Championship game!!!

:em71: :em71: :em71:

Could it get any better? My 2 money teams playing against each other. My goal when I put these 6 future wagers and all my add on future wagers was to make huge $$$ and cover my a$$. So I took who I thought were the 6 best teams at the time but my $$$ was gonna be made with UNC and Illinois. My goal was to have 4/6 reach the elite 8 (fell short on that) and have at least 2/6 teams reach the final four (reached that goal) and ultimate goal was UNC vs Illinois in finals (accomplished that). So things are looking great as I am an automatic winner.

UNC National Champs = $11,559 profit
Illinois National Champs = $9,792 profit

That is a difference of $1,766 if UNC wins it all. I am thinking about putting $766 Illinois ML. I really don't know who is going to win this game. I was very confident in Illinois beating UL and UNC beating MSU. But UNC vs Illinois is truly a toss up. Or I may just leave it all on UNC and make the game little more interesting from my standpoint. I do give slight advantage to UNC because in the end, talent usually wins out especially when you have a good coach.

Talent edge = UNC (not by much)
Coaching = even (maybe slight edge UNC)
Offense = UNC (slight edge)
Defense = Illinois (although only slight edge because weakness down low and UNC has big men)
Team ball = Illinois big time (this wins NC's)
Mismatches = UNC (creates multiple mismatches)
Rest = Illinois had 2 more hours of rest :)

Illinois played tougher road to get to finals vs UNC road. They obviously are more battle tested.

I can't wait for the game and I am glad its over watching every round with sweating bullets! :)

I am going to sit back and enjoy it and collect my $$$ no matter who wins this great NC game.

I posted all my future bets, lines, and sportsbooks where I placed them. So hopefully other posters jumped on board and are in same position as me. Its been a fun ride with an excellent finish.

Gotta hand it to you Scott. . . you've been doing quite well with these future wagers. . . I still think its normally money lost going with the favorites in a national championship type future wagers but with USC and now North Carolina or Illinois, you have hit quite a roll. This is the first time in 30 years the top two teams are meeting in the championship game right?

Good job and we'll see you in college football where once again USC is looking like the team. I assume we'll see a future wager from you on USC if not already?

Congratulations on the outstanding job you do with futures. You are definitely the MadJacker to follow on these wagers  (you too, Gregg :) )

Here's to you on your great success and your most profitable season :toast: (Nothing personal, but I hope you win the smaller wager -- if you can call $9792 small, as I'll be rooting for the Illini tonight) ;)

I can quote many posters on this site who said UNC or Illinois was "not" going to win it all.

I won $250 in sportsbook, lost $50-$70 in craps, and won around $40 in BJ. :)

I was right about the Illinois big men having advantage. It played big part and was the difference in the game.

I already got $750 to win $1,875 on USC. :) I also won 6.5k on Red Sox last year for MLB future at 6.5-1. So I been fortunate but you are right that books make $$$ off future bettors.

ahjoah

I think I am going to let it ride on UNC and maybe hedge/middle after 1h. I might get big break. I like UNC's chances tonight.

Thanks. Gregg (pt1gard) actually got me focusing on futures couple years ago. I never really bet them before and there is lots of money to be made IMO despite books saying they make $$$ of them prop bets. I think you build up value and leave yourself room to hedge later on. For example, I could have bet UNC or ILLINOIS not winning it all +214 before final four started.

Be proud of your Illinois team and they easily can win tonight. I think I am gonna root for UNC but won't be too upset if Illinois wins it all. They had tough road to get to finals. What a great team to watch and root for.
