This is basically a listing of teams that I think come to play every day and have heart. The second list is of teams that I really don't think care very much, and the funny part is that some of them are gonna be in the playoffs.

Heart:

Golden State(don't have the talent, but may have the most heart in the league).
New Orleans(they try)
Charlotte(they try, at home)
Milwaukee Bucks
Orlando Magic
NJ Nets(lately)
Sacramento Kings

No Heart:

Portland Trailblazers(I really don't think this team gives a damn).
Miami Heat(this is debatable, but I really don't think they come to play every game because they are focused on the playoffs).
Seattle Sonics
NY Knicks(on the road)
Houston Rockets(they have talent, but their plan to come back in games is to shoot a million threes)

Give your own opinions.

tough not to include the cavaliers in the list of teams who are starting to mail it in.

their efforts the last two nights have to be right up there with the worst 2-gm-in-2-night efforts in the league this season. absolutely destroyed by new jersey and indiana with the playoffs on the line and their position fading.

agree on milwaukee. they normally play hard and give a good effort even when they dig themselves a big hole in a game. theyre a team that will try and mount a rally.

The Celtics. Pierce is hands down the most over rated player in the league. This team is uncoachable. Does not play anything that resembles "team ball". Ton of talent, but letting it fly all day isn't going to get you far in this league. As I said, they will win games by having their better talent bring it over weaker talent, but won't ever get anywhere past that.

HOUSTON TOP OF THE LIST. if heart hit them in the face they wouldn't know what it is. what a waste of talent down there. it looks like an allstar team but play like the BOBCATS. :)

Have to add the home state pacers.......think they've shown a ton of fight.....especially the last couple of weeks!! They are going to give someone a lot of trouble in the first round!!

You're right. They may actually be the only team in the east to have a psychological edge over the Heat just because the Heat haven't beat them.

Atlanta is the biggest 1 I've picked out just a couple of games ago. I guess we'll see but I'm betting against them every game until the end of the season.
#2 but not quite sure yet is the lakers.. Watch them both and they should bring you cash going against!

I've noticed Hawks get a lot of back door covers in the 2nd half. I bet their 2nd half ATS record is awesome while their 1st halves are horrid.

New Orleans is a good cover team while Minnesota stinks. This is not quite the same as Heart though.

Anyone have a take on Nets? Are they just without talent or are they not playing hard?

I hate to play the Nets. They seem ''emotional'' where if they go on a roll and have a chance to make the playoffs they will play really hard and well. If they lose a few in a row and things look bleak they will seemingly give up.

Very inconsistent, that's why it's a tough bet for or against them.

Jazz

Jazz

I think it's easy to say the Jazz are mailing it in since they just got completely ripped apart by Minnesota last night. But consider that:

1. They played and won the night before vs. an admittedly garbage Portland team, where they lost their starting PG.

2. They are playing without 4 of their 5 starters, including their two best players..

I'm not going to say I'm advocating putting your money on them, but this team has had a brutal season and is still eeking out a few wins with an Atlanta-level team out there right now.

My take: I like the top 3 in that original list-- Golden State, Charlotte, and New Orleans--especially the first two. Good topic..

I went last night, when they played the Bucks. Mil. deserved to win this game...played a very close game sans Michael Redd, and the screws just came loose in the end, aside from some hot shooters for Boston. Until the C's learn to rebound offensively, they will have some problems. 4 guys already back once the shot is taken, and the last guy, being the shooter, watch it swish, or rim out. So much for following your shot...fundamentals. :cursin:
