Minnesota Twins 'ML' +137

Anyone who sides with the Indians based on pitching only would be a fool. Left handed pitcher Dave Gassner has come a long way to making his first Major League start and what better place to do it? Gassner has the advantage of playing an early game so he won't have to sit around all day letting his nerves get to him. This kid had a 2.38 ERA in 11 innings with seven strikeouts during Grapefruit League exhibition games in Florida this past Spring. He was called up for the Spring after going 16-8 with a 3.41 ERA for Rochester in the International League last season. His fastball tops out at 88MPH and he has sensational command as well as very good breaking ball pitches. He was a standout at Purdue University and is now making his first start 4 years later. He has tons of friends and family coming for this thing and he should be fine. The Indians are hitting only .192 versus lefties this season and have now lost three of their last four games. They are also 0-3 this season in Game 2 of a series and this should be no different.

The Cleveland Indians send Kevin Millwood to the mound and although he has pitched well this season, the team has lost both of his starts. It was obvious from Millwoods post game comments last time out that he is frustrated with his teammates. Several Twins players have earned at least one hit in their short careers versus Millwood. The Twins are the hottest team around right now having won five straight games. They are 2-1 in Game 2 of a series this season and I expect some run support for the rookie. Minnesota is batting .275 versus righties on the year and their bullpen has an ERA of only 1.04 on the year. Mike Dimuro is the umpire in this one and the Indians are 1-5 the last six times he umped their games.

Toronto-Texas 'Over' 10

Paul Schieber behind the plate. 25(Overs) - 8(Unders) in 2004. Not much else to say.

NY Yankees-Baltimore 'Over' 9.5

This is one of my fav. plays of the year! Umpire Jeff Nelson is behind the plate but it won't matter. Mike Mussina takes to the mound for the Yankees and although Moose is a good pitcher, he has allowed 16 hits in only 11 innings pitched. Mussina has a 4.05 lifetime ERA versus the Orioles but that could all change today. Mussina went 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in four starts against Baltimore last year. The 'Over' is 3-1 in his last four starts at Camden Yards and he has allowed 14 ER's in those starts. Miguel Tejada is .355 lifetime versus Moose with 4 HR's in 31 AB's. Luis Matos is .308, Jay Gibbons is .320 with 2 HR's, Brian Roberts has 13 hits in 24 AB's versus Mussina, Melvin Mora is .333 with 1 HR and Javy Lopez is .400 with 2 HR's. Can you say runs galore?

Rodrigo Lopez takes the mound for the Orioles and although he mastered the Yankees at Yankee Stadium last week, don't expect a repeat performance. Lopez has a 6.07 lifetime ERA against the Yankees and that will show today. Four of his last five home starts against the Yankees have gone OVER and in those games he has allowed a grand total of 22 ER's. The Yanks have been slumping but this should be the game they pull the breakout. Derek Jeter is .469 lifetime batter versus Lopez with 3 HR's, Ruben Sierra is .304 with 2 HR's, Jorge Posada also .304 with 2 HR's and AROD is .364 with 3 HR's. Some of the other Yankees have not faired so well against Lopez but it shouldn't matter. Both bullpens are very capable of allowing runs and I expect this to be a runs fest.

Boston Red Sox 'RL' -1.5 +110

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays can't play at Fenway and they never could. Dewon Brazelton is definitely a solid pitcher but he's off to a brutal start. He walked six batters on Sunday against Oakland. In his career, he has an 0-11 road record with an 8.09 ERA. Brazelton made two starts at Fenway last season, allowing 12 ER's in only 5.3 innings of work and on both occasions, the Red Sox covered the RL. The Devil Rays have lost eight of the last 10 games Brazelton has started and of those eight games, seven of them have been losses by more than 2 runs. In their last 12 games hosting Tampa Bay, the Red Sox are 9-2-1 on the RL of -1.5.

The Boston Red Sox send Matt Clement to the mound seeking his first win with the Red Sox. Clement is very happy to finally be making his first home start and it should do him good. The Sox have won five games this season and four of those games were won by 2 or more runs. This is going to be another sellout crows and I fully expect the Boston big bats to be out in full swing. One thing you need to know is that when the Sox win, it's almost always by 2 or more runs
