gl they are killing them now ... id like to see Lakers record with or w/o kobe, same with IVY ... as I used to tell you, lakers w/o shaq were horrible, w/o kobe it didnt matter, of course thats when the best player in NBA was still on the lakers

If Shaq stayed with Lakers he would have come into this season out of shape as usual. The Shaq playing in Miami is not the Shaq that played in LA. There is no way I would pay or even want that guy on my team when he doesn't give 100% to the team AND organization. Hell, Shaq doesn't even give 90% effort to the team/organization.
He relied way too much on Kobe. Shaq gets traded to Miami, he now gets motivated and gets himself in shape. He also has stud player Wade playing next to him. If Shaq stayed in LA, he be with stud player KOBE but out of shape. Remember, Shaq is currently playing in EAST CONF.
Comparing current Lakers situation to the Miami situation is kinda absurd if you ask me. Especially if its meant to bash Kobe. Lakers will be back in a major way in 2 years. Gotta take their lumps and rebuild this year and next year. Watch out in 2 years!!!! Then this trade will look great. I think BUSS was very smart. In 2 years Lakers will have KOBE and good young surrounding talent. They also will be able to take the top free agents. Gonna be a great team in 2 years.

Scott.......have to disagree big time with you here. First off who cares about if Shaq comes in out of shape.........the guys gets you to the finals every year. Last year Shaq beat San Antonio with his monster effort and if you remember in Gm 4 when the Lakers were down 2-1 to Detroit...it was SHAQ.... not Kobe who decided to show up.........Shaq had like 40 some points and 20 rebounds while Kobe went like 3 for 20 something..............THIS IS AND WAS A DISASTEROUS DECISION FOR THE WHOLE LAKERS ORGANIZATION..........they let some pounting punk force them to make bad decisions........the same pround franchise of West,Magic,Kareem,Elgin etc etc caved in to Kobe's tactics..............Now my question for you is how do you think this is going to get better in 2 years???????

This year they have a relatively high #1 pick (which is a deep draft) and if Lakers suck next year (which would be a good thing for Lakers) they will have another high #1 draft pick. So you have Kobe + 2 high #1 draft picks + ODOM/BUTLER/MIM/2004 PG #1 draft pick and anybody else or anyone else they trade for with these players. After next season Lakers will be a VERY talented team and will be legit contenders. Maybe not the best team but def. contenders. A lot depends how well they draft/trade but writing is on the wall that Lakers will be VERY good in 2 years.
