Who's gonna beat the boys in blue? Just playing for home field and playoff position now :mj07:
Season 29-25-2 +1.7
Yesterday 1-2 -2.52
Changed record keeping from dollar to unit sizes not that anyone cares.
Fla -140. Dontrelle Willis yet to give up an earned run on the season. 18 IP, 0 era. 2 complete game shutouts is a pretty impressive way to start the season. If I was smart i could have put this in at -133, but I wasn't fast enough and now up to -145. Washington is hot with 5 in a row, but a home sweep of a rotten Arizona isn't overly impressive and one of the wins came off a late rally of the gas can known as Kolb. I said it before and everyone criticized me, but John Smoltz will be the closer in September. Anyway, Wilkerson 1 for 17 vs. Willis, Guzman 0 for 4, Vidro 4 for 14, and Guillen 2 for 9. Only 1 home run against him on entire roster. Ohka didn't pitch bad against fish earlier in season giving up 3 in 6 innings, but final score of 9-0 was deceptive. He did give up 2 hr's though, and throughout his career is known for giving up long balls. The only problem I see is if the Marlins have trouble hitting against foreign backdrops to them, but I have no doubt Willis will give them every shot to win, but asking for a shutout or even a complete game might be a little much.
Cubs -132 Take away the 4 runs he gave up to San Diego in the first inning last week, and he's not pitched bad all year. Still has 13 ks in 12 innings. Cinncy bats have struggled against him with Griffey 2 for 14 with 5ks, Kearns 3 for 16 with 5ks, Aurillia 4 for 23 with 7 ks, Casey 9 for 37 with 9 ks, and Larue a paultry 2 for 22. Belisle might have an early edge as no one on Cubs has ever faced him, except one at bat for Ramirez. I think the Cubs woke up a little bit during the 2nd game of the doubleheader last week and have played pretty solid since then. I expect a solid start from Wood.
Minnesota +114 Early season battle of division rivals who will fight for 1st in the central. Lohse, a career .500 pitcher with an ERA hovering close to 5, but for some reason really comes to play when he faces the white sox. Career era of 3.89 vs the sox with a 7 and 4 record. Konerko 4 for 40, Dye 1 for 7, and Crede 3 for 24. To be fair, Rowand and Everett have had success against him though. Contreras is gonna pitch a gem or get shelled. He hasn't face Twins bats before, but he's a nutcase. Sox took 2 of 3 from Sox last week, but Minny should be able to take the opener in this one.
Under 7.5 SD/SF. San Fran comes back to realistic altitude after a weekend jaunt in the rockies. Sand Diego bats have done nothing against Tomko. Peavy been close to unhittable so far this season and a career 3 and 1 with a 2.89 ERA vs. the giants. Cannot see a high scoring affair in this pitchers park.
4.2/3 Florida -140
3.96/3 Cubs -132
2/2.28 Twinkies +114
2.2/2 Under 7.5 SD/SF -110
