It is the second time this week i am receiving a spoof email from someone who"copycat" paypal website and ask you to verify info about your account... This one was so perfect that it is real scary!!! It comes from Paypal service and the logo of paypal is there. It looks like it really comes from paypal but it's not!!!! I contacted paypal and they wrote me back telling me it was a spoof email and several people got caught with that so please, if you get it, forward it to paypal or call them 'cause it is probably a fake email!!! That is scary 'cause it is hard to say it is not from paypal!!!
:scared
Here is what it looks like...:

(here there is a link, (that i wont post) and if you click you go to a fake paypal opening page and you have to login to continue, it doesnt look like a fake as it is exactly like the paypal home page but after i log, they asked me to verify all my personal info (bank account and credit numbers etc.) to make sure they have the same on their file... When i saw this, i stop and wrote paypal where they told me it did not come from them!! :scared )

I recently got a fake one "from" eBay---also asking you to log in to your account and provide information because of claimed "unauthorized use" of my account. Sent it on to the real eBay, and the confirmed it was a fake. Actually had to change my eBay password as a result.

The best thing to do it put your mouse over the link to see where it takes you. If you do this, you will see itusually takes you to an IP address or some scam site.

I get the one's from paypal and ebay at least 3 times a week

If you don't already use Firefox, I suggest you get it. Besides it being the best browser out there as well as the safest, it has one quality extension called Spoof Stick which shows the name of the website you are on. I'll up a screenshot in a few.

If there are so much of us who got these fakes, how many people got caught and gave confidential info in good faith? Hope Paypal and Ebay are REALLY investigating....

I'm glad you enjoy firefox. I've gotten those phony Paypal emails & clicked on one to see what Spoofstick would say. The url I clicked would have paypal in the title but when it opened up, the word wouldn't be in the domain according to Spoofstick. I've lost count on how many phony paypal sites exist :(
