if you box a bet do you play all 3 across for same amount or play the first to win, second to place and the third to show? obviously i am new to this type of wagering. thanks

for an exacta or trifecta box you will need to ck all boxes , 1st,2nd, and 3rd if applicable and it should show you the amount you will be risking at the end before you complete your wager
for instance the guy i followed last year has in the 5th race at churchill downs hasty kriss as w/p. then then has it boxed with grand reward and rush to altar. i think i have answered my own question. check the first horse in the first 2 boxes as straight bet and then put all 3 in and check it. right?
i think that would be correct----at my book you have to so straight bets separately from exotic boxes
