Alright, who else is getting these German emails????

My wife's email account has had 5 emails in German now in the last 3 days. They have come from 3 different email addresses, and they are never addressed to her email account, but something similar. I'll post a few of them. ANybody know anything about this?

Got those same exact emails in my work account. Usually the IT guys or whomever catch them before they make it down to me, looks like I better check this computer out.

Your e-mail is sending these out now to those in your address book!!!

1- Disable System Restore. (Windows Me & XP)
2- Update Virus Definitions
3- Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as: W32.Sober.l@mm
4- Delete the value that was added to the registry.

Please consider backing up the registry before yah make any changes. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanently damaged and lost files. I'll post how to back up your registry after this post.

1. Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)

2. Type regedit
Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)

3. Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

4. In the right pane, delete the value:
"[random value name]" = "%System%\[random worm file name].exe"
"[random value name]" = "%System%\[random worm file name].exe %srun%"

5. Exit the Registry Editor.

Earlier tonight I was was trying to watch Band of Brothers on DVD and listen to my Girlfriend explain to me how she had the "Wooorrsst Day!!"

Anyway, at some point during her 20 min. soliloquy, I do recall hearing something about her entire mailbox being full of German emails. I only remember this because of the rare F-Bombs she dropped before and after the word mailbox. :rant2: :cuss:

As soon as I saw the subject of this thread, I just started laughing!! :lol:
