Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Rosie Jones to win 10/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
Was hoping for bigger odds than this, but will still back Jones in the 'w/o Sorenstam' market. This will be her final season on the LPGA Tour and already there is plenty of evidence that her game is benefiting from this ?swansong? effect. This should be felt at the LPGA Corning Classic more than any other tournament. She is the only double-winner of this title and in terms of the career money list in this event, she has amassed almost double the amount of prize money than the 2nd-ranked player, Tammie Green. In the last fourteen years, she has finished in the top-10 on eleven occasions. It is also helpful that the host course being one of the shortest on Tour and experience rather than power is rewarded in this event.

Catriona Matthew to win 16/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
The number three has a familiar ring with Matthew. She finished in that position on this course two years ago and she finished in that position three times in a row before her last event, the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship. Add in another top-10 finish last year and while she looks as though winning is a problem, finishing in the places and perhaps even 2nd to Annika to win this market may not be so difficult.

Carin Koch to win 16/1 e.w. @ Victor Chandler ['w/o Sorenstam' market]
Koch started this season like she ended the last in consistent top-10 form. She has since been a little off the pace each week, though still mainly in the top-30, and not quite so consistent. However, she did win in Mexico last month in very impressive fashion and with course form figures that read 1st, 9th and 8th in her last three visits, she is certainly a player to side with in what is largely a weak field bar Annika.

Matchup plays (3pts unless stated):

Michelle Ellis to beat Kelli Kuehne +100 @ Five Dimes
It must seem a very long time since Kuehne won this title in 1999 and finished 2nd the following year as she has missed the cut in each of her last four starts and has a best score of 74 in her last 10 rounds. Ellis finished 12th in last event two weeks ago and should be the favourite with Kuehne's game in trouble.

Leta Lindley to beat Vicki Goetze-Ackerman -127 @ Five Dimes [4.5pts]
Similar story here. Goetze-Ackerman did finish 2nd last year, but her big achievement last week was to end a run of five straight missed cuts. She also ended another run: she finished five shots ahead of Lindley and that was the first time since October 2003 that she has finished ahead of Lindley. It was a very surprising win last week and it will be just as surprising if she does it again.

Soo-Yun Kang to beat Maria Hjorth -115 @ Five Dimes
Finishes of 8th last week and 6th on this course in 2003 bode well for a good week from Kang, but the clincher is that she has finished ahead of Hjorth in 18 of their last 21 common events. On that basis, they can hardly be evenly-priced in the odds.

2nd rd @ 5dimes
Joanne Mills - 105 over Hullett

a little disappointed on odds considering Hullett is 14-2 vs Mills in their last 16 but will give it a look anyway. The 14-2 somewhat misleading considering Hullet has never beaten by over 2 strokes in 05--and considering junior golflers play on longer courses than this(just barily reaching 6000 yards) Hullett still should be hampered with her anemic 238 ave considering the amount of clothes she'll have to wear with 7:40 tees ad wind chill in the 40's

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; +4.50pts

Jones 8th
Matthew mc
Koch 21st

Another struggle on the outrights on this Tour. Jones almost earned some payout, but finished one shot short of a top-5 finish in the 'w/o Sorenstam' market, while the event winner, Jimin Kang, was certainly not on the radar as a selection.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 2-1; +4.05pts

Ellis/Kuehne WON by 14
Lindley/Goetze-Ackerman WON by 2
Kang/Hjorth LOST by 1

Another profit on the matchups on this Tour and a very close loss on wrong side of the cut line for the only loser. But really shouldn't have been close on these three strongly-fancied plays.
