its gravy - i hear ya. its almost that i would LIKE to think that no matter how bad oakland is, if they hold an american league team to 2 runs, they SHOULD win more often than not. but this a's team defies logic. indians gonna win with 2 runs on 4 hits. jeez.

not even sure what to make of this oakland game. part of me is content with losing after capping the game correctly. zito has another quality start against cleveland. his past history holds up. gives up 2 hits and 1 run. indians dont get any good swings off him. the problem is that oaklands lineup is sooo incredibly bad that that im ashamed to have laid money on them.

games a loser. play against cleveland against lefties against any other team in baseball you might have had a win today. still an auto-fade.
oakland is the worst offensive team in baseball. houston tries hard to compete with them, but in reality its a no-contest. HAS THERE EVER BEEN A MORE OVERRATED PLAYER than Jason Kendall. I mean this guy is a singles hitter. big friggin deal. i don't care if he hits .300 in the past, he has no pop and no speed. Chavez is a 6 hitter on most teams and he's the clean up hitter for the A's. It's impossible to cap a game factoring in that you might need to go extra innings to push across one.
We were right that Zito pitched well, just figured that Lee would give up a few. He would to my son's t-ball team, but definitely not the A's

heard a stat during the indians radio broadcast that said kendall has thrown out 4 base stealers all year.... and allowed 40 (yes, forty, at least thats what they said) to steal on him. is that true? thats embarrassing.

On the vent topic, I'm pissed as hell at 5dimes suddenly going down the five minutes leading up to the start of the west coast games so I couldn't play the Angels under 9. Would've played at another book, but it was 8.5 everywhere else and I was willing to pay the extra juice to get the 9 at 5dimes.

(please disregard this post of the Angels game goes over)

hes allowed 40 thrown out 5

piazza has allowed 41 and thrown out 4

at least with piazza, there is a chance of a homer or something.

it's like in little league, the indians are yelling "everyone in" kendalls up

5 out of 40 -- as Bleed already stated. This was talked about this week here in the NYC area since Piazza was embarrassed against the Braves during the week. Looks like these two are so far behind every other catcher in this regard it's scary.

I think it's going to get to the point with Piazza that teams will start sending anyone with any speed. Against Atlanta some of his throws were hitting 15 feet before 2nd base, and in a situation with a lefty up he didn't even make the throw to 3rd on the fly. If he's going to hit then you can kinda deal with it, but when he's not hitting this is a liability you just can't deal with.

piazzas first base experiment last year was also a disaster.

he should just go be the dh in tampa or something

maybe he should come out and have a reality show with his new wife eric karros

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

He'll be in the AL as a DH soon enough.

Can't complain about him, I think he was worth every penny the Mets paid for him. Got them to the World Series and multiple playoff appearances when things were looking very bleak in the mid 90's, and brought a lot of excitement back to Shea. Just think his time has passed as a catcher/bigtime player.

he's a hall of famer

just for the numbers he's put up at that position. if he only could have learned first base 7 or 8 years ago or wanted to learn it, his career could have been prolonged.

i don't think hes a hall of famer necessarily because to go in as a catcher, you must have been able to field your position. in that he might be the worst catcher of all time.

him and karros used to always hang out in hermosa and lived together for a while in the early 90s. I always thought if he was gay than that's who it was

I see Piazza threw out Pierre today -- impressive since I believe Pierre was 10 for 10 vs Piazza last season.
