Woman Calls 911 With Pizza Complaint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - An 86-year-old woman was jailed after police said she called 911 dispatchers 20 times in a little more than a half-hour ? all to complain that a pizza parlor wouldn't deliver.

Dorothy Densmore was charged with misusing the 911 system, a jail spokeswoman said.

She told dispatchers Sunday that a local pizza shop refused to deliver a pie to her south Charlotte apartment, said Officer Mandy Giannini. She also complained that someone at the shop called her a "crazy old coot," Giannini said.

Densmore wanted them arrested. Instead, police came to arrest her, and she resisted, Giannini said.

It's unusual for someone to face charges for nonemergency calls, Giannini said. But on Sunday, Densmore kept calling 911, even after she was told to stop, Giannini said.

When an officer arrived at her apartment, the 5-foot-tall, 98-pound woman attacked him, Giannini said. Densmore scratched him, kicked and bit his hand, she said.

Densmore also is charged with resisting a public officer and two counts of misusing the 911 system, jail records show.

This is the epitome of what is wrong with our world today.

They take a 86 yr old woman to jail who was probably just hungry and maybe a little eccentric.

What they should have done is asked her what kind of pizza she wanted. Picked it up at the nearest pizza parlor.
And then sent a officer over with the pizza to her house.

Instead they go over there, get in a argument with a 86 year old senior citizen. slap the cuffs on her, mace her, kick her a few times in the head, and throw her in the slammer to teach her a lesson.

wtf is wrong with these cops nowadays.

why wasn't there at least one of them with a heart.

A rally was started outside the prison. Over 600 people brought a pizza to the old woman in prison.

Pizza Hut and Dominoes have both promised the woman pizzas for the rest of her life.

Hot boxs were donated so the pizzas could be delivered warm.

People from all over the world were calling and sending cards to wish her the best.

The old woman was so overcome with joy, that she donated the pizzas to the prison inmates and their spouses and children as it was visiting day.

Everyone there enjoyed a good meal.

She promised the inmates who had befriended her, that she would come there every Thursday for the rest of her life and bring them free pizza.

A local home builder offered to build her a new house in a area where she could get pizza delivery.

A maid service offered to clean the womans house for the rest of her life every other week. The old woman could not believe her good fortune.

A defense fund has been started to pay the old womans bail and get her out of the slammer.

And to think it all started with that nice policeman that brought the 86 yr okd woman a pizza that night when she didn't dare to drive at night because of the neighborhood she lived in.

maybe the world aint such a bad place after all.

PD - well first of all do you understand that its against the law to bother the 911 operators and harrass them in any way. You can keep us from going on a call where lives may be in danger.

old woman - I know I just took some medication.

PD - well if you do it again your going to jail.

old woman - sir, I am 86 and I have grandchildren older than you are son.

PD - I dont care about how old you are, I care about you not making any more disturbing phone calls to 911....

old woman - its my phone. I have a right to use my phone don't I ?

PD - look lady if you do it again I am going to have to take you downtown.

old woman - you mean arrest me in my own home for trying to order a pizza ?

PD thats what I mean mam.

PD we can do this the hard way or the easy way. Now what will it be mam ?

old woman - grabs the phone and dials 911 which she has on her speed dial...

Dispatcher - 911 call center , what are you reporting?

GIVE ME MY PIZZA DAMMIT !

It was found out the old woman was catholic.
A nun was dispatched to the prison to comfort the old woman.
The church took up a collection and sent a check to the womans home to help her cover lawyer fees and to keep her out of jail.

we figured you were hungry and maybe didnt want to go out late at night for food. We understand that being 86 can be very difficult at times.

we got you two pepperoni pizzas with cheese, a large order of chicken wings, a cheese filled crusted all the way pizza, and a good old pizza with anchovies and olives.

PD - Oh and mam......please don't call 911 anymore. We got a job to do mam. And its a tough job too.

old woman - OK officer I wont. and thanks again for the pizzas and food.

She looks like Teri Hatcher. Lucky it wasn't San Diego. They would have shot her and stuck a "Saturday Special" in her knickers and I'm not making it up.

It was reported Saturday morning that upon a search at the jail, this gun was found in the womans knickers. She has
subsequently been charged with concealing a deadly weapon,a felony for which she can receive 5 years and a 10,000 fine.
