10* - Detroit (-6.5)
Wade strained a rib muscle on his right side midway though the third quarter of Game 5. He missed the final 5:08 of the third quarter, then the final 9:42 of the game with the injury. This is an extremely painful type of injury which greatly restricts movement and if you saw the look on his face as he was leaving the game on Thursday, you will understand why I doubt that he will be able to go tonight. "If he couldn't go today, there's probably a chance he couldn't go tomorrow," Van Gundy said after Friday's workout.
As far as the rest of the team goes, O'Neal has had a bruised right thigh for nearly two months, Damon Jones has spent virtually the entire postseason playing with a sore heel, Haslem dislocated his left middle finger the day before the Detroit series started, and Eddie Jones injured his ankle in Game 4 against the Pistons.
I realize that I have taken the Pistons in every game in this series in which I have played a side (2-1 in those wagers), but with the shape the Heat is in, the fact that this is a do-or-die game for the Pistons and that the game is in Detroit, I have to play on them again. While the Heat may very well have the best two players in the series in Wade and O'Neal, the Pistons can probably lay claim to slots three through seven -- Hamilton, R. Wallace, Billups, B. Wallace and Prince. They have to do better than the 30 for 78 shooting that they came with in Game 5 and I am encouraged by the fact that Detroit held Miami to 88 points on their own court.
Playoff Record: 27-18 (+17.2 Units)
