There is one thing that has to be taken into consideration.

Tyson is susceptable to tall fighters that can punch.

He has trouble reaching them from what I have seen over the years. If McBride can take Tyson into the later rounds and get him tired..... It could be good night sweet prince.

hmmmmmmmm

Only thing is Tyson is going to be a maniac in the first 3 rounds. We all know he will come out winging and slugging. Anything could happen.

Will McBride hold up or will we be hollering
TIMBER !

McBride weighed in at 271, the heaviest of his career. He weighed 270 when he was KO'd by Williamson.

Tyson weighed in at 233 which is normal for him.

Don't forget that Tyson tore ligaments in his knee at the end of the 1st round against Williams but decided to fight on. That showed a lot of heart considering the doctor who later performed the surgery said he couldn't believe Mike walked on the injury, let alone fought for two rounds on it.

Tyson was having his way with Williams prior to the injury and almost stopped him in the 1st round. Willaims was out on his feet and flaling around the ring in the 1st, it wasn't untill after the injury that he was able to take Tyson's punches.

The kicker here is that McBride is much worse than Williams, he's slower, less skilled, and has a weaker chin. Tyson will have to twist both knees to lose this one.

Tyson Promises Train Wreck in Latest Bout
By TIM DAHLBERG
AP Boxing Writer

WASHINGTON ? Mike Tyson
came to the nation's capital promising a train wreck. His fans ? and creditors ? can only hope Tyson is not strewn across the tracks when it occurs.

Aging and deeply in debt, Tyson begins the latest version of his ongoing comeback Saturday night when he meets an Irish heavyweight of little note in a fight that's officially scheduled for 10 rounds but has little chance of lasting that long.

If anyone is counting, it's Tyson's fifth comeback attempt of various sorts since getting out of prison in 1995.

The opponent's name this time is Kevin McBride, though that matters little to anyone outside McBride's family even while he enters the ring Saturday night for the biggest fight of his lackluster career.

Tyson, as usual, is the attraction, but this time the stakes are higher than usual. Another loss to a middling fighter and even Tyson's die-hard fans may have to start admitting that the soon-to-be 39-year-old is done.

"It seems to me a loss Saturday night ends his career," said Rock Newman, who guided Riddick Bowe to a heavyweight title and is helping promote this fight. "It would be over."

Tyson himself seems to realize time may be running short as he enters the ring for the first time since similarly unheralded Danny Williams stopped him in the fourth round July 30 in Louisville. Tyson claims he is a new man after giving up drugs, beginning counseling and training as if he really wants to fight.

The new Tyson, he says, is ashamed about some of his past, wants to win the heavyweight title again and believes he can dominate as he used to in his heyday.

"It will take time," said Tyson, who arguably hasn't beaten a top-notch fighter since his win over Razor Ruddock 14 years ago. "I'm not going to become Iron Mike overnight. But there's no reason to be in the business unless you want to win a title."

Tyson is a heavy favorite in the fight (Showtime pay-per-view), which is expected to draw a near capacity crowd to the MCI Center at ticket prices up to $700 at ringside. But he was a heavy favorite against Williams, too, and faded badly before quitting on the canvas with what turned out to be a cartilage tear in his knee.

The loss was the second in three fights for Tyson, who is not able to intimidate fighters the way he once did in his prime.

"It's more embarrassing losing to a contender of his stature," Tyson said, referring to Williams. "I was pretty depressed for a while."

Tyson has seemed anything but depressed this week, joking with fans and reporters and soaking up the adulation of fans who still seem to adore him. His only sharp words came at Wednesday's last news conference when, irritated by McBride's promoter, he told McBride what he had planned for him.

"I'm going to gut you like a fish," Tyson said.

It was in sharp contrast to his fight two years ago against Clifford Etienne, when he didn't train the last few weeks before the bout and then disappeared to get a bizarre facial tattoo. Now, though, Tyson seems to understand that he needs to make money ? and fast ? to pay nearly $40 million in bankruptcy court debt.

Tyson will be paid $5 million for the scheduled 10-round fight, which is on the low end of purses he has made in his career. After his creditors get $2 million and his ex-wife $750,000, though, there won't be much left for Tyson to count.

"I don't want Mike Tyson to be known as someone dishonest who didn't pay his debts," Tyson said.

Tyson (50-5, 44 knockouts) appears in shape, but weighed 233 pounds at Thursday's weigh-in, the same as he did when he lost to Williams. He has fought three times over 230 pounds, and lost two of the three. McBride, meanwhile, weighed the highest of his career at 271 pounds and looked soft in the middle.

McBride (32-4-1, 27 knockouts) is getting only $150,000, the same amount he turned down last year to fight Tyson. The 6-foot-5 boxer has an intimidating nickname in the Clones Colossus, but has been knocked out four times and has never beaten a boxer of any note.

One of those knockout losses came in 1998 in England to a fighter named Michael Murray, whose win over McBride was his only one in his last 17 fights.

"I'm a contender, not a pretender," McBride insisted. The Irish fighter seemed to like the phrase so much he kept repeating it, along with "I'm going to hit Mike so hard he's going to think the entire island of Ireland hit him."

Promoters claim they had sold nearly 14,000 tickets to the fight and expected a strong walk-up crowd, an indication Tyson is still a draw despite his recent record.

"These people aren't here because I'm a circus," Tyson said. "They're here because I'm an icon, an international star."

Also helping tickets sales is Laila Ali, the daughter of Muhammad Ali, who fights Erin Toughill. The bout will be for the WBC super middleweight title, the first time the boxing organization has sanctioned a woman's title fight

So Cal
McBride might be the slowest fighter currently active. His only chance is if he can take a punch and get the fight into the 5th or 6th. Don't think it ill happen.
